My 4/22/05 Leonard's of Great Neck Wedding Review
Zeller tuxedos: B+ After two bad customer service experiences at After Hours (Roosevelt Field Mall), DH and I decided to try Zeller’s Tuxedos (Old Country Road across from The Source Mall).
Well from the time we walked in until DH picked up his tux, we were treated very well. DH and the GM’s tuxedos were $129 plus tax and the RB tux was $69 plus tax (DH had to leave a $500 deposit, which he got back).
The only problem was when they all went to pick up their tux’s, the RB’s tux didn’t fit. They rushed in a new one and he had it the next day. The staff was apologetic about the error, attentive to their needs, and very friendly. And the small problem with the RB’s tux was not a factor at all, but I had to give them a lower score because of it.
We will use them again if the opportunity comes up.
Makeup by Oksana: A+ What can I say about this lady? Oksana has got to be one of the nicest ladies around. And the woman knows her stuff. Me and my MOH, and BM cost $240. She did the Jr. BM for free.
Oksana was on time, friendly, and just all around fantastic. The makeup was phenomenal. It was lightweight and did not adversely affect my highly sensitive skin. I definitely plan on using her for any other events in which I will need my makeup done.
The after (trust me, you don't want to see the before..LOL)
Alexis Limousines: B+ The reason I did not give them an A is because the week before the wedding DH called to push back his pick from 1:00 to 1:30. Whoever he spoke to gave him a nasty attitude that he didn’t appreciate.
Other than that, we had an overall pleasant experience. The drivers were clean, dressed appropriately, friendly, knew where they were going, and most importantly, on-time. The cars were clean inside and out with not a single bad smell. The cars were in new condition.
We were supposed to have a Town Car sedan pick us up afterward, but they sent another Cadillac limo instead and that was a nice surprise. We spent a total $444 total for 3 limos, including tips (pick and drop only-good if you are getting married at the same location as your reception).
I used them not only for the wedding, but for my Bachelorette party as well. And I will definitely use them again.
A & S Whitestone Florists: B+ I didn’t’ give them an A because the flower delivery guy was an hour late to my house. Not a big deal because I was already running 20 minutes late, but still. He did not get a tip. Ann, the owner kept calling me to give me updates on where he was, and was extremely apologetic about the situation. She is a very nice, yet professional lady so I know the driver got reamed when he got back to the shop. She doesn’t’ take any crap!
Everything else was wonderful. As you can see in the pictures, the flowers were beautiful. They were fresh, colorful, and everything I ever wanted. I really couldn’t have asked for anything more. I will use this vendor again for other events.
We paid $1490 for 10 CP, 1 Bride Bo-k, 1 MOH Bo-k, 1 BM Bo-k, 1 Jr. BM Bo-k, 4 bouts, 1 Mother’s corsage, 1 grandmother’s corsage, and 2 FG baskets.
Reverend Michael F. Callahan: B+ Reverend Callahan was great. Once I got down the aisle, I didn’t know what to do. He relaxed me by taking my bouquet and giving it to my MOH and telling exactly where to stand. (We really should have had a rehearsal.)
I didn’t give him an A because he was about 15 minutes late. If did not affect our day however because I was too busy pacing the bridal suite hyperventilating. LOL!
The Pros DJ: A+ What can I say? He was great. We wanted a DJ/MC who was not intrusive on the reception. Our DJ was quiet, and just played the music. Whenever someone wanted a song played that wasn’t on the list, he asked if he could play it, showing that he was very attentive to what we wanted and followed it to the tee. We have not a single complaint. He was on time, dressed appropriately, and perfect.
When the time came for announcements, he was on the ball. He gave out a lot of items such as air-filled guitars, sunglasses, and all sorts of stuff. He and his wife (they work as a team) were the nicest people. I would definitely use them again.
Oh, their fee was $756.
Leonard’s of Great Neck: B+ I gave Leonard’s a B because we had one problem with Leonard’s - our cake. First off it was the wrong color. Our cake was supposed to have blue frosting with white ribbon cream, but the one we got was all white with green sugar roses on the top. Secondly, at the end of the night, the top layer of the cake disappeared so we never got to take it home.
*What our cake was supposed to look like.*
*What our cake really looked like.*
Now at the time I decided it wasn’t a big issue, but afterward I was a bit disappointed. Maybe I am being silly…I don’t know. DH thinks I should complain about it, but I am not sure if I should even bother.
Anyway, other than that, everything was terrific. The service we got was amazing. The staff was so attentive, even helping me when a rib from the bodice of my dress came through the material and was cutting up my underarm, making it bleed, the bridal attendant sewed it for me.
One thing they had was a Sambuca Shot. It’s Sambuca (a liqourice liquor) in a chocolate shot glass. It was gross, but fantastic at the same time (I love chocolate but hate liqourice).
Our fee was $54 per person.
Everyone gobbled up the tuxedo strawberries although, personally, they were too cute to eat.
Everything was set up the way I wanted. I had very specific requests and all of them were fulfilled. The whole event was so much fun, I am looking for reasons to use Leonard's again.
Twelfth Night Photos: A+++ One word: PERFECT! That’s how I would describe them. Not only did they get the greatest pictures, But Dom and Geraldine were utterly amazing and have the most fun, laid back personalities. I can’t really say much other than that. I think you can see the results in the link below. I mean, really, what can I say?
