Married curly-haired girls -- wedding hair question
Without my expensive blow-dryer and flattening iron, my hair is REALLY curly. I'm considering wearing it 1/2 up, 1/2 down and slightly wavy for the weddng (in July). I was wondering if any of you curly girls had tried to tame your hair on the wedding day and how it turned out? Am I better off just putting it up and having my stylist shalack it with Aqua Net
Below are the 2 down options I'm considering. The first one is pretty straight. The second one might be better only because at least I'm not *completely* trying to fight the curl. Thanks for your help!

I like the second one better. I also have curly hair. It sounds like your is more curly than mine, but I'm planning on a half up half down look like that with loose curls/waves. I think the first one is too straight.

Re: Married curly-haired girls -- wedding hair question
I had more of the first one and they straightened my hair and then put curls in with the curling iron and sprayed them with hair spary so they stayed all night. I like the second one too, but my only concern would be that you are getting married in July and with the heat and dancing, your bound to sweat and that hair on you face with frizz or curl on its own/ I say atleast pull the sides back so they are not in your face all night!!

I'm not married yet, but I will add my input (if you don't mind!) I would go with the 2nd option, only because with humidity in July..you may make yourself nuts worrying about your hair curling. I know I wouldn't want to be worrying about that on my wedding day. Just my opinion!

I definitely think a good hair stylist could do it for you without any problem.

I have naturally curly hair too. No matter how much straightening either I or a stylist does, the natural curl or wave kicks in at the first sign of perspiration. I would go with the second look.

I let it stay curly because I knew that it would just curl up anyway.

Re: Married curly-haired girls -- wedding hair question
as another fellow curly-girl, my suggestion, is to get your haircut at a specialized curly haired salon.I've been going to DEVA CHAN SALON in nyc, on broadway, and my hair has NO FRIZZ, and it's been growing and growing.
i think cactus salon in huntington sells the curly girl products, so they must have a trained deva chan stylist and cutter.
check it:

i think i'm going to do the half up/half down too, b/c i think my hair will look best, and i wont have to worry about getting a headache, from a too-tight up-do!
good luck!

Re: Married curly-haired girls -- wedding hair question
I have really really really curly hair also, until i got it Japanese Straightened about 2 years ago. but B4 that my hair would not stay straight no matter how much i ironed and straightened it with the first touch of humidity. so IMO i would go w/ #2 so that if it does curl it will go w/ the style.

Re: Married curly-haired girls -- wedding hair question
I'd stick with leaving the curls...I had my hair trial on a SWELTERING HOT day in August..and at the first sign of humiditiy, myhair was all curls...luckily I got to put a ton of hairspray on it to keep the curls...but here is how mine looked *frm the back* on my wedding day...I had it half up...

Re: Married curly-haired girls -- wedding hair question
My hair is thick and curly. I had done a few trials first and no matter what it turned into a frizz ball, so I put mine up, it stayed up all day and I did not have to do anything to it. She had starightened it with a flating iron and then put in hot rollers and put it up . It looked great. HTHPS You get really hot in your dress. You have on so many layers ... the gown, crinilion, long line bra, suck it in underwear, stockings, etc.
