Re: Dancing lessons?
We just started ours like 3 weeks ago at Arthur Murray. We are doing a Samba. It is so much fun. You don't realize how quickly you learn when you are just focusing on one dance. We are taking a total of 9 private lessons and we actually have 2 left. We did 2 a week. You definitely have enough time. Just go to a few places and see where you feel most comfortable. FH and I went to 2 different places to check about pricing and stuff and we just knew where we chose was right!

Re: Dancing lessons?
Ok...I'll be honest....FH and I started dance lessons to choreograph our first dance but we are dance lesson drop outs....FH is severely dancing challenged
Think it would have required many more lessons than we are prepared to pay for BUT here's who we used....Victor is very good and very patient Good luck!

Re: Dancing lessons?
We took it at Arthur Murray. It is really stressful but fun at the same time. 3 months is definitely cutting it short but if you start ASAP you will be ok.

Re: Dancing lessons?
FH and I have taken a few lessons, not to have the dance choreographed from beginning to end, but to be able to dance to our song with more than the clutch and grab. We started in April and our last lesson is tonight.Edited to say: Our instructor, John, is amazing and is a vendor on here (dancelongisland). I can't remember off hand his prices, but I highly recommend him.

Re: Dancing lessons?
Places like Arthur Murray will give you a first lesson for free so you can get a feel for it. Have fun.

Re: Dancing lessons?
Can anyone offer price quotes, such as what I should expect? I don't want this to throw us off our budget but really don't want to miss out!

Re: Dancing lessons?
I took lessons at arthur murray for a while (on my own) and when I went recently to sign up for FH and myself, they quoted me $120 per private lesson BUT they do have a package for soon to be married couples. It includes 10 lessons together (I think). You can call for the price or they'll tell you after your free first lesson if you decide to go there. Try to negotiate with them if you can.
You have enough time; and even 5 lessons may be enough as long as you practice together and FH understands how to lead you.
ETA:
The introductory lesson is just a way for the teacher to see what you both need (about 30-45 min.). One of you may need more work than the other. If you don't like who you get, you can always request another teacher.

Re: Dancing lessons?
You're welcome - I'm sure your FH will be able to pick up. I noticed with my FH, concentrating on one dance helped him learn quickly and he didn't get as confused as he would have if I'd made him learn 6 styles of dance.Welcome New Vendors
