Re: 1st time dress shopping
I went to Fantasias, bridal sweet in Centereach and Adriennes in Islip. I think Fantasias in the best place to go when you first start trying on dresses. They will let you try on as many as you want, and will tell you the designers. You dont have to make an appointment and their prices are very reasonable. The other two places are very nice too, and I didn't find them very expensive.I would say to try on all kinds of dresses, even if you look at them and hate them. There where so many dresses that I saw in the bag and thought they where not for me. Then I would put them on and I wound up really liking them. '
Good Luck!!!

Re: 1st time dress shopping
Paradise in Patchogue has an expensive room, and a 'regular' priced room (under $1000).I got my dress there.
Things you should know: Most of the gowns are a standard 10-12 size. If you're bigger or smaller the samples won't fit you too well. But they pin you up OK so you can get the visual.
Plus, I always reccomend Paradise because 'Bridal Suite' of Patchogue is located a few stores down and that way you can go to both on the same day. Both on Main St. in Patchogue.

Re: 1st time dress shopping
I got my dress at Fantasia-they were the best place about not needing and appointment and just letting you try on dresses and they dont hide info from you which is nice

If you are familiar with the shore shore of LI, I had a great experience at Lillette's on Merrick Road in Baldwin. And, my dress (a Demetrious gown) was under $1,000.

Re: 1st time dress shopping
I found my dress at Lillette's too...they have a ton of dresses under $1,000 and they're gorgeous! I worked with Gerry and she was awesome!Try on dresses of all different shapes and styles then narrow it down. I honestly tried on about 25 dresses, but half of those were different styles. When I found a style that I liked I tried on a few in that stlye until I found the one. Have fun and relax!
