Did anyone here have to see a high risk obstetrician...?

And if so, what was the reason?

I was told if I'm going to try to have a baby, I need to see one. I have so many 'high risk' factors: (1) I'm overweight, (2) I have high BP and (3) I'm not exactly a spring chcken.

I had to see one every other week when I was diagnosed with GD. Not biggie - I got more sono's and the dr was very nice. He mostly just looked over my weight, babies weight, etc. and numbers on my GD blood sugar chart.

Re: Did anyone here have to see a high risk obstetrician...?

my doc is a high risk doc...I switched to him when I found out I was preggo...and Thank God I did...because James was born 15 weeks early.

The reason I switched is because my sister had a preemie the yr before...and my sister was herself a preemie...and my aunt had 4 preemies...so basically because of family history

Wow, thanks! I have an appt. on Monday 6/27. I pray he tells me I can go ahead and try to conceive. I'll be devastated if he says something to the effect of 'perhaps you should refrain.'

My sister has many many problems...we were all very surprised that she concieved on her own....but the one thing the doc always told her is that no matter what...she will one day get PG....he said that the only time he would ever tell a woman not to attempt to TTC is if the mother's life will be put in danger...So dont worry about the Doc telling you to refrain. Good Luck...and please keep us updated.
