I'm Feeling Blue - I should be happy because I am ordering my gown tomorrow but......

I just made an apointment to order my gown tomorrow and I told my mom because she is going with me and she wasnt as excited as I thought she would be. Basically she said to me that I had 2 months to lose weight and I didn't so I guess we HAVE TO order it now since time is running out.

I dont know either....She doesn't even understand how hurtful it feels....which is odd for her because she is a loving and caring mother.

I guess it is because over the years I have been a rollercoster with my weight. Recently I have gained back a lot of weight that I lost and she wanted me to lose it before ordering the gown so I will order the size that I feel comfortable with.
It's so hard.

When I was heavier my mom would sometime make pretty hurtful comments about my weight. At one point I told her my weight want none of her business that she should never talk about it with me. (At which point I lost a lot of weight)

Who cares if you are bit heavier -- buy a gown that fits now, if you loose some weight you can always have it taken in. Weddings are pretty stressful to plan, and it is hard to loose weight at the same time.

I am sure you will look wounderful no matter what.

That's such a terrible thing to say. I'm sure your mom didn't realize how hurtful she was being, but finding the dress should be the most wonderful moment between mother and daughter. I tried to reassure my mom that she will look fabulous in her gown as she was worried about her figure.

You are going to look beautiful on your day, no matter what. Do what makes you feel good.

I'm so sorry she made you feel bad. That was so inconsiderate to say something like that. I'm sure you're going to look gorgeous in your dress and you can still lose weight before the fitting (if YOU want to.)

regarding what your mom said, I don't blame you for being upset. That was WRONG! and you should tell her that. I know I would.
