Colors help! Considering your hall in your choices- UPDATED WITH PIC OF COLOR SCHEME

Hi Ladies

I am having real trouble deciding on colors for my wedding. It's a spring wedding, so pastels seem like the right way to go.

the thing is, fh (yes, Groomzilla himself) is concerned that the colors we pick may not go with the decor of our room (gotta love this guy! )

so, how much did you ladies take the decor of your room into consideration when picking your colors....

WM is not really neutral- has a lot of pink tones...here's a pic of the room.

what do you suggest/would you do?

(I was thinking either blues or lavendar...but am open to suggestions!!) I am going dress shopping with my girls tomorrow. Please help!

Re: Colors help! Considering your hall in your choices

I think that anything would go in that room! You need color though - very bold, if you go too light, it'll wash against the walls and the decor.

that's just what FH said...put pastels really arent that bold...should I eschew the whole 'spring-pastel' thing and go with more jewel tones?

I'd go more w/the jewel tones - they're darker, and still in the pastel range b/c they're lighter.

Re: Colors help! Considering your hall in your choices

Thank you, I'm getting married at WM too and I wasn't sure about the colors either. I was thinking pastels too because I'm in June, but I will definitely look for bolder colors. Thanks for the post and the advice.

Re: Colors help! Considering your hall in your choices

Im getting married in the Garden room as well...honestly, I dont think it matters what colors you use. Ive been advised that not many people try to coordinate the room, dresses and linens anymore...

Id be more concerned about the whole bridal party flowing with each other and not the room..JMO though, to each their own..

Re: Colors help! Considering your hall in your choices

I am using reds & pinks in my bms bouquets. However I am not using any red in my cps because it doesn't go with my hall's decor. You can do whatever you want, it's your day!

The Temple will be having a brand new ballroom with colors in the blue family. It was only by coincidence that I chose NAVY for my bridesmaids. I will be likely to choose purples and blues for flowers.

Re: Colors help! Considering your hall in your choices

I think you could do a lot in that room...pinks, reds, creams...I think the right blues and greens would even work.

My girls bo-k's are matching them, and my CP's are matching the room....my bo-k is matching my dress....Not all of my flowers are going to be the same colors, I like it better that way.

yeah- I wasn't planning on being too matchy- I prefer coordinated. I want my bo-k to be varying shades of bright pinks (peonies, hydrangeas, hyacinths) the girls I was going to do pinks. blues/purples, and cream or light yellow.

I was then going to use differing combos of these flowers and colors in the cps to give the room some punch...

my big problem is what color the girls dresses should be!!

I agree that just about anything will go with that room. I think that jeweltones are lovely and would look nice. But I think that you could pick anything.

Re: Colors help! Considering your hall in your choices

thanks ladies...after searching- (oops I mean working ) all day, I think I found the colors I am looking for....

they are the cover colors on this months Brides Magazine....

now to find dresses in them!

they are just what I want, vibrant, but definitely not fall colors!!! I think they will really stand up to the room.

what do you think? (the blue/green and the pink)

Re: Colors help! Considering your hall in your choices- UPDATED WITH PIC OF COLOR SCHEME

I've been thinking about the color of that room too - I'm using the garden room too. My girls are going to wear champagne - our cps will be very pale pink and ivory.

I'm not sure about the blue colors in that room. Your florist should be able to help you decide. Take pictures of the garden room with you when you make your plans. The bridal shop should be able to help in the same way.

Re: Colors help! Considering your hall in your choices- UPDATED WITH PIC OF COLOR SCHEME

I am also usimg the Garden Room, and since Iall right on the border of Summer/Autumn, I'm following the Summer colors and going with a pale pink and a pale green.

Concentrate on what looks good on your girls, not the room. People will remember if your bridesmaids look bad in their outfits, but their not going to say that your colors were too light in the room. If you really want the color, put it in your centerpieces, not on your girls.

Re: Colors help! Considering your hall in your choices- UPDATED WITH PIC OF COLOR SCHEME

I went to 2 weddings at WM last year and both receptions were in that room (the second one...Love it by the way) To me the room almost had a nice cozy reddish tone to it at night with the lights turned down a bit. At the first wedding (July) we wore periwinkle bm dresses, and at the second (October) the girls had on cranberry dresses. Both looked great!
ETA Sorry I just saw the pic that you posted....I think those colors will look awesome!

I had my sweet 16 in that room, it's beautiful!
Are you doing chair covers?? I like the pastels...i think it would look pretty in that room plus it kinda goes well with the Westbury Manor b/c isn't the hall have like a pinky color to it? or maybe they changed it...
