NWR-My dad's surprise party need your expertise!

Ok in two weeks we are throwing my dad a surprise birthday party-it is at a hall and they pretty much take care of everything except for centerpieces (my mother and i just realized we needed to do something today ) Does anyone have any simple (CHEAP!) ideas? Nothing crazy but something really cute/cool/fun would be great.

I'm counting on your creative ideas!

TIA!

For my Dad's 60th, we made little putting green centerpeices because he loves to golf.

Re: NWR-My dad's surprise party need your expertise!

Go to micheals and get these things.

Round fish bowls/vase things with a fairly wide opening

A tall skinny vase that will fit inside the opening of the bowl...but that is not much taller

Some decorative marble type rocks

Then put the marbles in fish bowl. Fill it with water and insert the fish...

Then put the taller vase inside the fish bowl.

Add some cute flowers in the taller vase and you have a cute centerpiece.

My friend did this at her shower and it was great. She used BETA fish.

Re: NWR-My dad's surprise party need your expertise!

what about a photo box with candles all around it??

Like the card box all the girls are making with pics on each side... but without the slot for cards.

Like this one with pics of your dad at all different ages??

I think candles are always an inexpensive, nice way to decorate a table.

BALLOONS? CHEAP, EASY & QUICK. NOT TOO CREATIVE, BUT FUN FOR A B-DAY PARTY.

the place that we are using provides ballons above the dance floor-it looks awesome but I figured we should do something else for the tables so that we aren't on balloon overload

Oh, What's he into? Maybe you can tie some of his hobbies into a centerpiece?

Re: NWR-My dad's surprise party need your expertise!

how about a really low, square vase or ceramic box, fill it with a square of moss which you can get cheap at a floral supply, and small flower buds that you can just stick in randomly...it ends up looking like a field(saw this on tv-looked diferent and easy!!!)

Re: NWR-My dad's surprise party need your expertise!

Recently, I ws at a fashion show, and the centerpieces were really neat, and very inexpensive

They were candleholders (almost like a hurricane, but it had a bottom) with a blue pillar in it, with some sand and seashells around it. IT looked beautiful. And, it would be great at a birthday party.

Re: NWR-My dad's surprise party need your expertise!

For my Dad's surprize 60th I went through the family albums and color photocopied pictures from him as a baby through present day... if you put several on one page, it's not a lot of money. You will need two copies of each page

Then I found cheap photo trees (can't remember wheree it was 5 years ago). Cut out the pics and glued each photo's back to the matching photo (so two sided). I had about ten photos in each tree from various stages of his life.

People loved it and it was a GREAT conversation piece.
