I want to do something small because we are having a lot of out of town guests coming. I was thinking something edible like a cookie or something.

how about some candies wrapped up in tulle with a bow or something?
Are most of the out of towners staying in a hotel? If they are, why don't you give out your out of town bags at the rehearsal dinner?

we bought the little metal baskets from Michael's and put jordan almonds in them. (I wrapped 5 jordan almonds in tulle, tied it with a ribbon, and then put the little 'pouch' into the basket)

Everyone loved them! Total cost was $1.35 each.

I was going to do personalized M&M's but I just never got around to it.

You certainly don't 'have' to have them. It's another 'optional' thing.
