NJ bride needs help planning LI wedding

Hi everyone! I'm getting married Labor Day weekend at Kings Point. I currently live in NJ so I'm having some trouble booking vendors. One concern of mine is my hair. My wedding is on a Sunday, so I'm worried I'll have trouble finding a stylist. Any recommendations?

Welcome to LIW and Congrats on your engagement! You will definitely find that LIW is a great resource and it will help you narrow down your vendor choices without even leaving NJ! I hope we can help you!

As far as air salons, I'm not sure, I haven't looked into it yet, but I've heard Hair Genie is good! Search for hairstylists or make a post specifically looking for hairstyles. You can also lookmon the Review board and see pics and reviews!

ETA: You may be able to make a special arrangement with a salon as well to open for you, but the stand alone hair stylists who specialize in weddings will definitely have Sundays available!

I am not sure about hair salons- they may open for you or come to the place you are getting ready ...

LIW brides are a great help...so I am sure you can get advice for many other aspects of the wedding .have fun planning!

My hair stylist is in Queens. Not sure if she will travel to Jersey, but she will travel to Long Island. I have been using her since I was in college and I am 32 now. Her name is Jeanne and she works at International Haircutters in Fresh Meadow, Queens. The number is 718 454 4700. She is the queen of updos. Valerie is great too, but not for updo's, she is good at blow outs only!!

Welcome! Where are you in NJ? I grew up in Central NJ. You may find that some of the more popular hair people are booked--that happened to me when I started calling around 10 mos. in advance! But a salon opened up just for my BM and I, and it worked out really well.

I live in Northwest NJ now, and my fiance lives in Astoria. We're moving to LI after our wedding...he works in Port Washington. Where did you get your hair done Nov04LIbride?

We had ours done at Dea Salon in Islip. They did a great job, but you could probably find something closer to Kings Point if that is where you will b staying. I've heard good things about the Cactus Salons--they are a chain throughout LI, but all locations do a lot of wedding updos and makeup.
