Why did I send out Hotel info card...

hardly anyone 'read' them! I sent out my STD's in October with hotel cards letting everyone know to book their rooms before 6/14/05. Now with the wedding in 19 days, people are calling me asking what they should do- one hotel is booked and the other no longer gives the discounted price. I wrote on all their cards what the deal was 8 months ago! I feel like I'm being mean to them when I tell them there is nothing I can do to help. Has anyone else had this problem- what did you tell people?

My guests still have time but I put the hotel info in my STDs and nobody has reserved a room everyone says they are but no one has. I just tell them that if they forget or wait too long there will be no rooms left, bc either people will have reserved them already or the hotel will release the blocked rooms to everyone else. Try not to let it worry you!

You can see if you can try & call the hotel to see if there is anything they can do. THere might be nothing but it is worth a try. I sent out STD cards too w/ hotel info & plan to send it out w/ the invitation as well. I feel that peopel don't like to plan things too far in advance especially if they are invited w/ a guest & don't know what their situation w/ill be at the time of the wedding.

Sorry for your dilemma. I sent out STD's too but w/o the hotel info. I figured the STD's were just like reminders to inform people of my upcoming wedding. I did not think people would know their schedule 10 months in advance to decide whether or not to book a hotel room or where they would be during my wedding month.

Anyhow, I sent my hotel info to all of the bridal party and immediate family before they went out to my guest list with the invitation.

Since that time the hotel has allowed me to add an additional 10 rooms to the 10 that were already booked. Unless they are very booked, they should allow you the ability to reopen your block at the discounted rate. However, my hotel made the people who booked after the cut off dat pay the discounted price over the phone whereas the others that booked prior to the cut off date, just had to give a Credit card number for reservation adn can pay upon arrival.

i had the same problem. it drove me insane that i sent out all the info, and sufficiently warned everyone that hotels would sell out, and still had tons of people calling in the weeks before asking 'Where should I stay?' Some of them even forgot i sent out a HUGE newsletter with over 15 choices for lodging.

It is inevitable that there will be people like this.

I ended up having my mom find a few more options and emailing them out to people - I was too annoyed to handle it. Designate someone else to deal with it and redirect stupid phone calls and emails appropriately, this is the LAST thing you should be stressing about.
