Re: Is there a fee for blocking hotels rooms?

There normally isn't. You do however have to guarantee them them a certain amount of rooms. If those rooms are not booked by the month before the wedding, they will charge you for them. I blocked less (10) and hope we can use those up. They'll just add more as times goes by.

not true for every hotel.

I blocked 15 rooms. if they're not taken by 1 month before the wedding, they are released back to the normal hotel rate. it doesn't cost me anything.

Re: Is there a fee for blocking hotel rooms?

At our hotel, we had to initially give them our credit card to hold the rooms. As the guests called to reserve the rooms in thier name, they gave in THEIR credit card to pay for the rooms. If any rooms were unbooked by I think 24 hours before, they would have been automatically charged to OUR credit card.

Re: Is there a fee for blocking hotel rooms?

No, we did not give them anything. If the rooms are not booked a month before, they release them. We blocked 20 rooms at the Marriott in Uniondale.
