Tips for Printing Addresses on Envelopes?
Before I consider sending out my envelopes for someone to address, does anyone have tips on how to print on a home printer?I have the exact font to use, but test envelope had black streaks. I cleaned the head and the printer is only 2mths old.
I don't want to test more than 2 envelopes (Encore Invites - lined) and I have used 1 thus far.
TIA

Re: Tips for Printing Addresses on Envelopes?
you cn test it on a plain piece of paper and then compare it to teh envelope. Streaks sounds like a dirty head. it can get like that quickly if you leave the printer on in between. Whenever I've done envelopes for an event (wedidng, whoer, etc) I buy a new cartridge for that purpose. Good Luck

Re: Tips for Printing Addresses on Envelopes?
Are the streaks horizonal or vertical? if they're vertical it could be thata wheel got ink on it or something. Just cover all bases! And test on regular paper before you try any more envelopes. Good Luck!(PS: it's great to do them yourself

Re: Tips for Printing Addresses on Envelopes?
What type of printer did you use? We just bought a Brother 4-in-1. The streaks / blotches of ink are not linear. Sporadic and hear the edges of the envelope. I don't want to ruin too many as they would be very tricky to replace. I will bite the bullet and have them addressed if I must...it's just that I found the EXACT font and bought it to use for this purpose. TIA

Use a LASER printer! You will have less misfeeds and ink problems! When we printed ours, we used our ink jet printer. WOW, we WASTED a TON of envelopes! And we sent out a TON with ugly ink spots on them.
GOOD LUCK!

Re: Tips for Printing Addresses on Envelopes?
Ug! I feel your pain - I am having the same problem. I bought a brand new hp 1315 and had the worst time printing my STD magnets (wasted 3 sheets of rather expensive magnet paper), then I tried to do the envelopes and got streaks.Bottom line - I just went out and bought new ink for my 'retired' epson printer (luckily I hadn't chucked it yet) - and my magnets are coming out perfectly as we speak. Haven't tried the envelopes yet, though.
Found out last night on the hp website that the printer I have has trouble with labels and stuff. What kind of printer are you using?????
Also, you can try changing the settings so that the printer sends less ink, or try fiddling with the paper type (use a thicker paper setting).
Good Luck!!!!

Re: Tips for Printing Addresses on Envelopes?
I was going to do them on my computer but I was nervous about them not coming out that good and messing up too many envelopes. I am sending my to INKSPUN. It only costs $0.39 per envelope.

What are your thoughts about the envelope thickness? Thanks for all the tips posted yesterday! I am definitely buying a new cartridge today...FH shakes his head. lolI checked out Inkspun..seems reasonable...I just have to tell myself it's ok to release the envelopes to the mail.

Did mine on computer, no problems at all! Cut out paper... the size of your envelopes...and feed them, that's what we did.

Edited to say: sounds like me -- I found the same font as my Encore invitations too!
I printed on Encore envelopes at my house on a ink jet printer (1 envelope at a time) and jammed.
Then I tried my DH's on a photo printer (1 envelope at a time) and no jamming. So I continued to print out all 150 envelopes (plus inners) and they came out beautifully!
