Buying a condo vs renting

so, i finally got a job (yay) but it's an hour away from where i currently live (near the university that fh still has a year at), so we're looking in the middle of the two.

Cept, the area where we're looking apparently mostly has affordable housing complex's, so we'd have to rent a house or something.

OR, buy a condo. I found a 2br, 2bath condo for 95,000 (remember, this is a very rural area of va), and according to the little calculator, that is just at the max of what we could afford.

Now, part of me wants to own something, but part of me wants to rent until we have a more permanent area where we want to live.

Should we look at a condo, or just stick with the rental?

I'm oh so confused! Thanks! Here's the condo listing

Re: Buying a condo vs renting

Things to consider.

1.how much rent is where you are looking.

2. the length of time that you are going to be living in that area.

3. The rate of appreciation in the area.

It is so different in NYC. For us it made more sense to buy because our mortgage and maitence are less then our rent. We are only planning on being here for 5 yrs, but because the market is still going up we are going to come out way ahead.

I've seen it on Wells Fargo site or Bank Rate.

Re: Buying a condo vs renting

Sometimes it's better to rent. It really depends on how long you plan on being in the house/apt and how much money down...etc...Buying something is a big $$ committment.
