ready to cry from frustration!!!!
I was at the shop where we ordered the bridemaids dresses this afternoon on the verge of tears because my bridesmaids dresses came in wrong...and they are so ugly.the owner wouldn't even come up front to talk to me....she sent someone else up to tell me what options I had....which were not acceptable as far as I was concerned.
The person who was trying to help me said that she is going to call the manufactorer for me tomorrow to see if she can find a more suitable solution.
5 wks till the wedding and so far my bridesmaids dont have anything to wear...and since they are from sizes 4 to 22...its going to be hard to find something off the rack...as we discovered today.
another very upsetting thing that happened while I was there...was how they mistreated another customer. A African American woman and her mother were there to look for a MOB dress and to order a wedding gown....(I think...I didnt catch on right away)
any how the staff kept walking past them and helping the other WHITE customers....When the woman confronted the staff...the staff gave some lame excuse that they didnt see them....they were sitting in a chair in the middle of the shop, you would have to be blind not to see them...this behavior has just convinced me further that this particular shop was a mistake. I do not like for any person to be mistreated....I have many family members and friends of all different race, colors religons, sexual preference...its 2005 and this behavior is appauling.

Wow, I am so sorry about the BM dresses. Maybe they can buy something off the rack at Macys, Saks, Bloomingdale's
I've seen nice dresses at all those stores for reasonable prices and in all sizes
As for the African American women 'not being seen' by the sales consultants, it's no shock. Although NYC has one of the most diverse populations, it is still one of the more racist places to live in this country. There was just something on the news this month about a young African American man being beaten with a bat (and hospitalized) for being in the 'wrong' neighborhood (a White neighborhood) with two friends. The intersting part is he lives only 10 blocks from the 'wrong' neighborhood and the White man who beat him (with the bat) claimed he thought the men were after his gold chain although they did NOTHING to warrant that thouhght.

I've already loss 2 nights sleep because of these dresses...do you think that it would look strange if i put my MOH and JR bridesmaid in one dress
and my other 2 bridesmaids who need larger sizes in another?....just thinking of ideas if Im forced to buy off the rack.

pls dont laugh...but where is Davids?
I just got off the phone with my preggo BM....I need her to go look for dresses...since it will harder to find another one that will work for her...anyway she is free Friday to go dress hunting.
Im only giving the bridal shop until 1pm tomorrow to come up with a suitable solution...then I will have ask for my money back from the deposits...if they refuse...I will simply hang up and after I have finished my fittings for my gown... I will call my lawyer...Im not playing nice anymore

Re: ready to cry from frustration!!!!
So sorry to hear this. David's in Nassau is on Old country Rd in the Fortunoff shopping center. You can buy off the rack there and they have all sizes. They can even get dresses from their other stores. I just went there to get my BM dress and I had a great experience. Good luck and let us know how it turned out.

Re: ready to cry from frustration!!!!
UGGGGGHHH--I hate when salespeople try to size up their customers based on things that are irrelevant. Sometimes I feel like the salespeople at the dress shops were checking out my e-ring, to kinda judge whether I have $$. I wear my e-ring on my right hand and I catch so many people glance toward my left, not see a ring, then change their tune when they discover that there is a diamond ring.

Re: ready to cry from frustration!!!!
I am so sorry to hear that!!I have an idea, not sure if you’re up for it. David’s Bridal told me (when I was there ordering dresses w/my BP) that sometimes dresses come in after 2 weeks!! You may want to give them a call.
Good luck!
