according to my FMIL who lives in Florida - the season starts @ June/July and runs through Sept/Oct - but the harshest weather typically comes in the later months.

As a former meteorology major

, I believe the season starts June 1st and ends November 1st.

No matter what.. theres no way you can predict the weather.

Thats why Im happy I choose Sandals resorts for my honeymoon. They offer free hurricaine insurance.

I went last August (the day before hurricane Charley). All of the airlines offered free ticket changes for people who wanted to delay their flights.

I don't think I would go to Florida in August. It usually extremely hot in August. Also I feel August and Sept are usually the prime months hurricanes hit.

Awww, I would watch your cats, Lord knows mine needs someone to play with!!!

But I agree that August is a brutal month for FL. I made the mistake of going down there in August years ago and just kept running from A/C to A/C because it was too much to be out in the sun!!!

October is a much better (and cheaper!!) month to go there.
