Repost from Newlyweds: Questions about Thank-You Cards

Hi, girls! I have a couple of questions regarding thank you cards.

1) We are planning to send thank you cards to everyone who came to our wedding, whether or not they got us a gift. A couple of our guests had asked us where we were registered, but we have not gotten anything, so should we go ahead and send a thank you card to thank them for coming? Or should we wait a little bit more? Not that we're expecting everyone to get us gifts, but these particular people did ask about where we were registered.

2) If we did send thank you cards to thank people for coming, and then we got gifts from them, I'm assuming we have to send them another thank you card for the gift, right?

Sorry for the silly questions...

Thanks so much!!!

Re: Repost from Newlyweds: Questions about Thank-You Cards

I would send a Thank You for coming, and if you do wind up getting a gift later on, just send a different thank you - like a pretty card one as opposed to the formal ones with your pic on it.

3 months is a good time frame to work with...if you send them all out now, if they do decide to send you a gift, you can send a regualr thank you not back to them acknowledgeing the gift. i wouldn't worry so much about the gifts as the wedding was about being married. as long as you had a great time, thats all that was needed

Re: Repost from Newlyweds: Questions about Thank-You Cards

Yeah, sorry if we seem like we're being greedy. We're really not, which is why we are sending everyone thank you cards whether or not they gave us gifts. It's just that a couple of people had asked about registries, so we weren't sure what to do in that specific situation, since we don't have enough wedding thank you cards to send two to some of our guests. But sending a regular note is a great idea. Thank you so much!

Re: Repost from Newlyweds: Questions about Thank-You Cards

We actually don't have a pic, but we do have traditional Chinese double happiness wedding character with the words 'Thank You' on the thank you cards. You're right, though, it doesn't make sense anyways to send two of the same cards to the same people. If it becomes necessary, we should go to Hallmark and get a set of regular thank you cards.
