Has anyone been in this situation before? What should I do?

I went dress shopping this week and found THE dress at one bridal store. Just to be sure that this was the one, I went to another store and tried on more dresses where I found the same dress that I LOVED and I know that I definitely want it!

But here's the clincher:

The service and attention that I got at store #1 BLEW AWAY the service that I got at store #2. But, the dress is less expensive at store #2.

Are bridal gowns negotiable? Store #2 was still an excellent and reputable bridal shop.

What should I do???

Re: Has anyone been in this situation before? What should I do?

I would definitely talk to someone at bridal shop 1. I know someone who had the same thing happen and she had the manager call the other store, not letting them know who it was, but she confirmed the price was indeed less and so the shop she liked better matched the price.

Good luck negotiating!!

Yup, that happened to me, but I decided to go with the salon with better service. I figure that they will be doing all my alterations, so I want a place that I can totally trust.

You should definitely haggle at the higher priced salon!

I found my dress at RK in the city and then at Bridal Reflections. Although Bridal Reflections originally said the dress was almost twice the price I had seen it for at RK they agreed to match RK's price!

Re: Has anyone been in this situation before? What should I do?

I bought my dress at the Commack Wedding Center. I didn't go there for the service, I went for the price and selection. I didn't want to go to several stores looking.

Despite the mixed reviews, I had a great experience. The lady helping me was very patient with me, she worked with me for almost 4 hours from start to finish. My dress came in early and it’s home now

I am having someone else do alterations though, the CWC is a zoo unless you're trying on wedding gowns. I want personal attention for the alterations.

I found that the dress prices are negotiable. Be honest with them and let them know you found the price for cheeper, and see if they can beet it.

Re: Has anyone been in this situation before? What should I do?

bridal salons will definitely match prices... when i went to order my dress I told them that I found the dress cheaper someplace else... they asked me where and for how much... she went in the back, and came back and told me they could match it!! at other places I went to, i was also told that if i found the dress cheaper else where, just to let them know and they will match the price!!
