So frustrated...job related

Ok..well I think I have come to the realization that I cannot go back to that horrible school. I am so frustrated because my resume is out and I have had no calls or anything...

But I cannot be without a job...

Of course this is all coming the year I am getting married.

Just wanted to vent

Is there any way the union can help? Have you been checking the NY Times and Monster? I can imagine how frustrated you are. I will be praying that you don't have to return to that hellhole you work in.

Checking NY Times...the paper and online..checking the school districts websites...

My principal was supposedly going to 'help me' to transfer but has not e-mailed me back...she is such a wonderful person

I just pray everyday that God has some sort of plan and that things will work out

Kathleen, can you get another city school job? Transfer to a different school?

What about a TA position for the time being on LI just to 'get yuor foot ont he door'?

Kathleen keep your head up. I sent out I think 15 resumes and only got responses back from two. But I eventually landed a job in an awesome school. Something will come up!

Kathleen,

I'm sure something will come up. Don't lose faith. Everyone says things come up at the last minute in Aug. when some teachers want to stiff their principals.

I'm in the same boat. I left my school in the city (Manhattan) b/c I couldn't take the commute & am currently w/o a job. I've sent out probably over 60 resumes & really only got postcards back or 'we'll keep your resume on file.'

You don't need the stress and hostility and attitude at your old school Kathleen & that commute too.

God has a plan for us

Aww.. I feel so bad!!! What is it about your job that you dont like?? Im sure you will find something.. just be patient. Trust me.. they come when you least expect it. Every job I had came when I gave up looking.. or wasn't looking)

I know I asked you this already, but have you applied to any private schools? I know the pay is not as good, but at least its something.
Is there anything else you might want to do besides teach?
And also, there is still a lot of summer left, don't give up hope!!

I don't know anything about how the schools here work, but all my friends from home (Chicago) who looked for teaching jobs didn't find out or even hear anything until very late in the summer - lots of schools seem to fill their spots pretty late in the game. That could be happening here too.
