My parents are there now ( not HMing) and they are beginning evacuated. They called but said they weren't told where they were going.

Hi everyone, and thanks for thinking of me ckgm! I hope your honeymoon was not a problem due to this storm also, though it sounds as if it missed your area for the most part.

We WERE headed for Maya Riviera tomorrow morning. Friday morning before our wedding, FH wakes me up and tells me Emily became a category 4 storm. So we called our travel agent (Liberty Travel), and she recommended rebooking our trip. We had talked to her about Quebec originally, so she asked if we would be interested if she could get us on a flight and find a good hotel.

So, after lots of back and forth, by the time we were on the car on the way to our rehearsal dinner, she confirmed that she had booked us at Hotel Frontenac in Quebec City! We couldn't stay as long as we wanted, but we will still have a decent honeymoon. And, the hotel waived any penalties. She thought the airline would as well, but we'll have to find out for sure tomorrow.

While this was a horrible thing to happen the day before we got married, I consider us VERY fortunate for getting another trip fairly easily.

I hope no one else was going to Mexico this week, it does sound awful.

CJIK, The Hotel Frontenac is gorgeous and Quebec is great, I'm glad it all worked out.

I also am saying prayers for EVERYONE that is in the Hurricane affected areas......lots of safe wishes for everyone.

my mom called a few hours ago - they are not being evacuated. Everyone at their hotel is bunking in the conference center - it's a more secure space because there are no large windows that could break or blow into the room. They are totally being upbeat about it - referring to this as "their great adventure" but I wish they were out of there!

Thank God! I was so worried about you- I know how upset I was yesterday morning- I couldn't stop crying since our only option was St. Lucia(American would have switched our tickets for a fee) but the new hotel would have been $3000 more! I am glad it worked out for you.
