Anguilla honeymoon review
We spent 10 wonderful days in Anguilla for our honeymoon recently. We debated for a long time about where we wanted go, and Anguilla did not disappoint us in any way!We flew from Newark (we live in NJ) to San Juan, and then to Anguilla. Our first flight left at 7:00 a.m., and we got to Anguilla at 2:30. The weather was great, as long as you like sun!
It was sunny and about 80 degrees (but definitely gets hotter out in the sun) the whole time we were there. We stayed at the CuisinArt resort, and it was beautiful. We had a beachfront villa suite, and they had champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us.
Here's the view from our balcony:
The beaches were amazing. Definitely go to Shoal Bay East. There's great snorkeling right off the beach on a reef that you can easily swim to. The water is amazing, clear and calm like a swimming pool. It was perfect for just floating in all day.
If you're at Shoal Bay, we liked the food at Elodia's the best by far. Definitely go to the bar at Maliouhana to watch the sun set. The day we were there, it was a little cloudy, the but the view was still breathtaking.
Our two favorite places for dinner were Oliver's and Flavours. Olivers is a really romantic, candlelit restaurant with a nice water and sunset view, but beware: dinner will take at least 2.5 hours, perhaps more. Actually, this holds true for most Anguillan restaurants: go before you are hungry. Trust me.
Flavours has good food (it's now owned by Cap Juluca) and a great, sweeping view of Sandy Ground. It also has a great view of the sunset, albeit through utility wires.
For lunch, try Johnno's and Gwen's Reggae Bar in addition to Elodia's. We rented a car, and I think that's the way to go. Taxis are pretty expensive, and our car rental was only $250 for the whole time. We also took a day trip to St. Martin/Maarten, but definitely preferred Anguilla. I was relieved when we got back—although I did manage to find a Longchamp store on St. Martin.
It was a great place to go for a honeymoon, just perfect. If you want more details, just FM me!
