Personalized menus instead of placecards???

Ok...I can't stand placecards. Just a personal thing...and am trying to find creative ways of getting around them. Was thinking of having the persons name calligraphed on the menu. We have a relatively small wedding without that many tables so I don't think it would get out of hand, people looking where they're supposed to sit and all. And I figure people can move around if they want to sit next to someone else. What do you think of the personalized menus idea? Any other ideas?

If you're curious... Why I don't like placecards...they're such a waste of paper. Once people know where they're supposed to sit, they just throw them away. They're a pain to put together and get all in rows...And I can't stand it when people are bunched up looking for their name on this tiny card...

Have you thought about a seating chart instead??

I guess the personalized menu's are ok but I wouldn't want my guests walking around the tables looking for their name.

Honestly I wouldn't even think to look at the menus for my name so I would probably wind up sitting wherever and having someone elses name on my menu - JMHO

ETA. also what about the votive holders? they can double as a favor b/c you can take the vellum off and keep the votive holder.

I think that would be a great idea!! Have your DOC have a chart with what table to direct people to, so as they walk in they are not wandering around aimlessly and can just go to one specific table to find their menu.

Have the chart. Some of them are beautiful and make a nice keepsake. I know someone who re-used his chart as a place to record the gifts he got.

I was considering putting my menu in the program instead of having a separate one. So, I know what you mean about trying to combine. Anyway, I may have just a program and no printed menus. My venue doesn't have a preference.
