Repost from BHB (sort of)-Did anyone use table names instead of numbers?

If so, how did it turn out? My sister wants to do it, there are only 140 people coming to the wedding, so only 14 tables...my mother thinks it'll be confusing....what do you guys think?

Maybe you can combine it like: 'Table One: The Rose Table' or something like that...Definitely have a chart too!

I only did table names and did not hear that there were any problems with people not being able to find their tables. We had 13 tables. I did not do a chart either, but it could be helpful.

We did beach names and had about 165 guests. I didn't hear anything about people having a hard time finding their table.

I used table names...16 tables...1/2 Irish Counties, 1/2 Italian Cities. Nobody said it was confusing. To help the wait staff, I did put the actual table number very tiny at the bottom corner of each table card. Everyone liked the originality of it.

We used names of shows that we had been in since we met. We only had 7 tables, but nobody seemed to have trouble with finding their table.

We used names of Long Island Lighthouses. We had 10 tables and had no problems.

i didnt hear of any problems... matrie'd had master guest sheet with table locations in case anybody got lost. you could at the place card table, put out a picture layout of the room with table names on each side showing the entrance, dance floor and dais

We named our tables after different diamond shapes. No one was confused. The hall did put up table numbers but that was for their staff...my guests went by the names.
