Gift from MOH

Hi everyone. I am the MOH for my best friend's wedding in three weeks. This is my first time as a MOH, and actually my first wedding (as an adult). So, I don't know how much money I should give as a gift! What do you guys normally give as a member of the bridal party?
The thing is, the wedding is pretty much a whirlwind, planned in three months, she's very apathetic about the wedding.. three weeks away, still no florist, photographer, DJ. She keeps saying 'she doesn't care' about the wedding, two weeks ago it was off, then back on. I guess that shouldn't really affect my gift, but I just wanted to see what you all thought.

Re: Gift from MOH

LOL Did u want a response on the gift....or did you really want to vent about if she should get married or not?
I could easily comment on that and give my opinion........but I'll say nothing.

Since, in words, you asked if you should get a gift...... I'll answer that.

Your gift to her can be something she registered on her bridal registry. If she didn't register, you can pick her up anything that you think she might need in her house.

And of course you would give her a present at the wedding, which is 99% of the time money.

The choice is really yours, you can get your friend anything you want. However, you are not obligated.

Re: Gift from MOH

At this point, I think I'm past venting about this whole wedding. haha. Long story short, she met the guy in Vegas about 8 months ago, he's from England, they have probably spent about three weeks total in each other's company and she is marrying him and moving to England. Oh, and we are only 23.
So yeah, kinda crazy.
There is no registry, there was no shower, this is like the sloppiest wedding situation I've ever seen.
I of course am going to give her a gift, money, I'm just not sure what the going rate is these days for a member of the bridal party to give. You know, ballpark.

Re: Gift from MOH

Me, personally as MOH would give about $400.....but are they paying for this..is it a big or small wedding??????
my sister though i would prob do like $500

but i know people that have given $200

it all depends on how close you two are, and financially what YOU can do....
