Repost from Newlywed Board...Do you feel bad to go out and leave your significant other home alone?

When DH and I lived on S.I. I rarely went out w/my friends because I felt bad to leave him home alone (his friends and family are from LI) and now that we live on L.I., he goes out with his friends and now I'm the one who's home alone. I mean I don't mind him going out with his friends it just $ucks that my friends and family are so far to just stop by or hang out for a few hours.

This is my life story. I relocated to northern westchester for my DH. ALL his friends are here and all my friends and family are in LI. He leaves me alone to go out with his friends more than I'd like. He thinks its so easy to jump in the car and drive 1.5 hours to LI to see my friends or family for a few hours.

I'm terribly lonely out here....I'm begging him to move to LI, but he just won't budge!

Are you kidding? John loves that he can order a pizza and play playstation and drink beer while I'm out. Although I have to admit that I don't go out all that often, so he may not like it if I did it a lot.

Awww, I know. It's horrible to have this feeling. My DH always says so go to SI and see your mom and friends, but hello, do I feel like driving over an hour for a few hours?? I try so hard not to be one of those wives that gives him a hard time, but still, it's hard. Loneliness, is a horrible feeling. I'm lost for words myself as I'm in the same boat.

Re: Repost from Newlywed Board...Do you feel bad to go out and leave your significant other home alone?

i absolutely do not feel bada at all... we go out together a lot because we have a lot of 'couple friends', but i think in order to have a healthy relationship, girls need a girls night out and sometimes the boys need a night out. i make it a point at least one night on the weekend most of the time to go out with the girls, maybe to a movie or dinner or something and i think its great that sometimes he decided to do the same although sometimes he likes to stay at home and relax when i am out, no reason to feel bad, we are not the same person, and dont always need to go out together.

Re: Repost from Newlywed Board...Do you feel bad to go out and leave your significant other home alone?

Now that we live in Phila. we never go out without each other because we have no friends here. I'm serious though-- we don't know anyone. But when we lived on LI we went out separately sometimes. Not really to clubs or anything... maybe just to a bar with friends. It's good to have a little time on your own.

Re: Repost from Newlywed Board...Do you feel bad to go out and leave your significant other home alone?

even though we went to HS together, all of our friends are now different... he always goes out and hangs out with his boys... and there are never other girls there, so i usually just stay at home... he goes out often, sometimes it bothers me, and sometimes it is nice to have some space... once we move into our house though, he promised me he isnt going to leave me as often because i dont want to be in the house all alone!
