A question about having a theme...
Is anyone going with a theme for their wedding? If so what are you doing?? I was thinking of doing a fall theme for our Sept. wedding, but I don't want to take away from the formality of the night... Our reception is starting at 7:30 on a Saturday night and I was thinking of making it black tie... What do you girls think?

Re: A question about having a theme...
I think the nicest thing about a fall wedding is being able to have a fall theme, with leaves and candy apples. Aside from June, my other dream date for a wedding would be Sept or Oct just for that reason. Go for it!

I think you can have a theme and still have a formal wedding. If you want it, go for it!

candy apples are YUM! and if you want to keep it formal, you could decorate the sticks like tuxes and maybe a little tulle around some for a dress...
I have NO IDEA how it would be done, but I am sure someone crafty can figure it out.
to keep it formal with a theme, don't go overboard. my theme is shakespeare, but it is still very formal- no one is dressing up like any characters, but I am using certain elements of that time period for accents..
GO FOR IT!!!! it's fun, and since it narrows down your options immediately, it actually makes planning easier.

Re: A question about having a theme...
I also say yes to a theme. We are doing a beach theme, but not overdoing it. It's been really fun finding "beachy" things to incorporate into our wedding. Go for the fall theme, I love that idea.

Re: A question about having a theme...
i'm all about the theme of mine... 1940's Hollywood because my venue used to be a movie/vaudeville theatre.
But, it is still a very formal place and I am a formal type of gal (except on saturday nights when i like to get crazy )
So far, I'm doing tables numbers that all are movies from the 40's. I'm making them right now to look like movie posters.
I want to steal heidla's idea of doing "tickets" for the rehersal dinner. My save the dates also carry that movie theme.
I want my favors to reflect it. And the girls' dresses will have that type of 40's look.
The invites will most likely be very traditional - straight out of the 40's.
Tons of gold and jewel colors...
Still all very formal but the little touches will be noticed and it makes it just a bit more fun.
I think a fall theme is just great and your ideas sound good. As long as you don't go overboard, I don't think a little theme is so wrong.

Re: A question about having a theme...
i am a november bride - and i am into the fall theme - Even though i am having a saturday night wedding as well.
i am just simply sticking with brown & gold colorings. you don't have to be so blantantly obvious with a theme - some people do pumkins as centerpieces or favors, some go all out and scatter leave shaped decals on the table.....even though these things are beautiful i felt i didn't want such an obvious theme. my girls are in brown and gold - my groomsmen are wearing brown vests and ties -deep dark chocolate brown. In my mind - its beautiful!! and will give my wedding the "fall" feel.
