A 'vent' about a vendor....

Okay, I am not posting the name, but need to “vent” about a vendor.

I am on a quest for a hair person, and my first choice has someone booked for a trial whose wedding is the same day as mine.

I decide to FM/email others for pricing and trials.

One calls me, and we chat about her busy schedule, she says she “comes to you” for the trial and day of, and asks where I live, I tell her and she says, “Where is that?” and tells me she does not do trials off of Long Island. I ask where she is, as an option of going to her. When she tells me where but said it would have to be in the evening after he husband gets home. I am fine with that, until we’re choosing a good date for us both and she tells me it’d have to be after 8pm, b/c her husband does not get home until 8pm.

Also, my fear came true (kind of). I have been hesitant to meet with or book a hair person who works w/a make-up person, b/c I hate the awkward feeling when someone offers me something I already have booked (I already booked my make-up person). The lady I talked to last night about hair went on (and on) for about 2-3 minutes about her make-up person. I felt bad, and had no where to really say, “Thank you but, I already booked one”

I NEED recommendations for a hair person. I posted on the VHB board, received a few (3-4) replies, but when I reach out to them again, no response. I am in Queens and would like someone to come to my house on the DAY of. I can go to them for the trial, but would prefer not having to go further east than Melville or late at night. I work on Nassau/Suffolk border, until 4:30 M-F and on the South shore (in Nassau) on Sat 9-2.

AND this one lady I talked with last night, was the MOST expensive one for trials and day of.

TIA!!!!!!

-Jill

Re: A 'vent' about a vendor....

I am using Jennifer Z. for hair. She is WONDERFUL!

and btw, when I had my MU trial, the MU artist asked me who I am using for hair b/c she works with hair stylists. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all telling her I already have someone. Don't feel bad about it, they'll understand.

She is my 1st, well actually 2nd choice. My 1st choice was Taralei, who I hear is not doing wedding after this year . Then Jenn was my next choice, and she has a trial already w/ someone who has the same wedding date as me.

I know I will find someone....it's just frustrating. I have been able to get my 1st choice in all other vendors, this is the 1st giving me a challange.

Re: A 'vent' about a vendor....

I just had a trial with Claudia Pedala, and loved her...she's in NYC, you do your trial there, and she'll come to you for your big day. Her sis Maureen does make-up, they work both as a team and separately.

FM me for more info.

Re: A 'vent' about a vendor....

I'm sorry!

I know I was supposed to have a trial with Jennifer Zeigelmaier (sp?). I liked our interactions and she seems young, cool and knowledgeable. Sadly, I went for low cost instead of a quality 'person'...and I paid for it. Someone else who was wonderful on the phone and is not too expensive is Maria from Concours d'Elegance (sp?). She was very nice and I have seen pictures of trials and she seems great, plus she travels.

Re: A 'vent' about a vendor....

I have a awesome person to do my hair. She is not a LIW vendor, but I am so glad I found her. Her prices are better then anyone I found here, and my trial was amazing. I went to her house for the trial (she'll come to you too, but it's cheaper to go to her), and then she's coming to my house for the day of the wedding.

FM me if you want her info or to see pics.

Re: A 'vent' about a vendor....

have you asked your make up person to make a recommendation? Usually they've had an opp to see other people's work and can give good input.

She used to recommend a hair person (not work with, just by recommendation), but after a VERY unprofessional incident at a recent wedding, she does not recommend her any longer.
