sort of NWR--Need advice on what to wear to black tie wedding

I have a black tie wedding to go to in NYC on a sunday night (it is at 11 Madison Park).

I will not know anyone at the wedding, i don't even know the person's whose wedding it is. a friend of mine needed a date so i said i would go....

now i don't know what to wear!!! Do i have to wear a long dress? or can i get away with a mid calf length dress?

Please help!!!

i would wear a black formal dress or long gown- calf lenghed dresses can be formal too depending on the style

long dress. hit up estelles - id do black and plain

to me black tie = long ball gown style dress. I would do black. Try lord and taylor they usually have something and use a coupon.

wear something that is long. If it is long and elegent... you should be fine.
