Photographer question...more of an opinion maybe

Hey-
I am in the process of setting up meetings with photographers and I am torn because I think I would want to meet the ACTUAL photographer before booking and a lot of these places say that you book first and then meet them 6 weeks or so before the wedding...What if they smell? or have a voice that I can't stand
...I mean, this might sound stupid, but at the same time, they will be with me every single moment of the day...shouldn't I meet them first??? And I know a lot of these places have good reputations, but...i dont know....
I need advice!!!

I would wanna meet my photographer...
We went with Velvet Studios
We met with Bob and he will be doing our wedding also.

We also don't like the fact that these huge companies have so many employees and you don't know who you're getting on your wedding day. Or in some cases you have to pay extra for the owner, etc... We loved bob @ The Velvet Studio and we know HE is doing our wedding. I'll try to find my e-pics so I can bump it for you.

It's very important. A few of the photographers we met we didn't click with so it made our decision easier. A photog's personality is very important. If he/she makes you feel comfortable you won't be as uptight when he's snapping pics.

I would 100% want to meet the photographer in advance of booking. I think this is why we are having such a difficult time picking out our photographer as well. Everything is a lot of $ and I think you are entitled to meet who it is you are going to be working with.

i agree! i went with jamie collins- shes in CT but i live there and she is travelling to nyk for my wedding at no extra charge.
shes awesome and a one lady show!

It is crazy how many of the LIW vendors do NOT let you meet the photographer tho!!! I am shocked...but I guess it's making my life easier in a way b/c I am able to rule people out!!

I wanted to meet my photographer, as I wanted to meet all of my actual vendors, b/c I think having a relationship with them is important for the big day. We clicked with everyone we've booked so far, so I feel like things will run smoothly during planning and on the wedding day.

If you meet with a salesperson and then ask them if you can meet with the photgrapher! Definately you need to click with the photographer, you are going to be spending a lot of time with the person!

I would definately meet with them. The whole part of picking a photog is seeing if you fit together and get along. you spend more time with them than anyone else.

This is so important. We know who will photograph our wedding and who is our videographer, and we saw their work. Some places show you the work of one person, you book them for that and then they send you another photographer, whose work you never saw

It is so important that you establish this WHEN BOOKING. Good luck

I booked and met with my photographer. I think it makes all the difference if you feel comfortable with the person you are working with. My boos got married last week and she had a photographer that she didnt meet before and she said she was SOOO irritated with the woman and wanted to walk away from the pics. Imagine that!!

I would definitely want to meet my photographer in person. and be guaranteed he/she will be the one at my wedding on that day.

Unfortunately, the price is usually more $ to get that. Photographers that only do one wedding a day tend to be more $.

I was fortunate enough to meet my photographer prior to even meeting with the company. She happen to be at one of the showcases at my hall, and we chatted a bit and I set up a meeting with the manager.

But I would want to meet a photographer first. To make sure we 'mesh', oh and that they don't smell or have an irritating voice!

I totally wanted to meet my photographer you are completely right when you say you will be spending so much time with that person. This is one of the reasons why it took me forever to book a photographer because many places didnt allow you to meet with them.
