Is it rude not to invite people from work?
I have worked in this dept for 3 years. I am not that close with my co-worker.....yes, we talk get along but never share anything outside of work. Would it be rude if I don't invite them and just invite my boss? I am also having a very smal wedding (50-60 people and can not afford for my list to keep getting longer and longer.

Re: Is it rude not to invite people from work?
I only invited my boss and I think it was easier to do that and not invite others, since I think it is more difficult to invite some people and exclude others.

Re: Is it rude not to invite people from work?
I work in a small high school and I never expect to get invited to anyone's wedding. With wedding expenses as they are today...I inivited my boss and orginally didn't think we'd have room for her. When MIL finally told me that the 28 people that I HAD TO invite from CA were not coming only then did I invite some people from work because then we were not going to make our minimum.

Re: Is it rude not to invite people from work?
There is no rule that you need to invite people from work, but some do. I plan on inviting my boss, and those I am close with in my office, but that's it. It would get too crazy if I invited everyone.

With such a small wedding, it is definitely not rude to not invite them.

it's not rude at all. you have to do what you can afford to do and what you WANT to do.there are no rules at all.

Re: Is it rude not to invite people from work?
it is not rude if you don't invite them. I'm inviting some and not others. I'm basing it on who I talk to or would hang out with outside of work. those are the people I'm inviting.I manage a dept with 10 people, and I'm sticking to my dept. (even though I have friends in other depts.) and from those 10, I'm probably only inviting 6.

Re: Is it rude not to invite people from work?
No way - definitely not rude. We're having a 'small' wedding, and have huge families, so we decided not to invite anyone from work (even ones that we're close to.) Believe me, people understand. However, I would invite my boss - just so they remember during BONUS time! LOL

I invited everyone in my dept that I knew well enough to have had their home address.

Re: Is it rude not to invite people from work?
No, it's not rude. Just make it clear that it's family only and no one will be offended.

Re: Is it rude not to invite people from work?
Not if you and FH both decide not to. You can simply explain that it will be a family-only wedding but you promise to bring pictures
