Ocean City, MD

I have never been there. Any recommendations on a nice hotel close to the boardwalk?

TIA!

Re: Ocean City, MD

I've been there a few times with my girlfriends! The first time we stayed at Castle in the Sand which is right on the beach and hidden behind some ugly, tacky looking place but it turned out not to be so bad (but I'm going back a few years and I might have had lower standards then, lol). About 2 years ago we went back and we stayed somewhere else on the main road, 2 blocks off the beach and according to Expedia, 6 blocks off the boardwalk. We drove down so the distance wasn't a big deal to us. It was a nicer, quieter place but I can't remember the name...I'll look it up for you!

ETA: Coconut Malorie Resort. Quiet, not so big, clean. I don't think we had any specific issues with the place, but I do remember that somewhere in our room I read that they wanted the guests to strip the beds at the end of their stay, which we didn't do because we thought that was a ridiculous request. Other than that, nothing stands out.

Re: Ocean City, MD

I been there a few times. I would recommend staying somewhere in between 10th street and around 60th st. or so (we stay in the 20's usually at the Comfort Inn or Philips). Then you are right on the boardwalk and don't have to really drive.

Have fun!

Re: Ocean City, MD

I live in MD, but I've only been there once. I'll tell you where NOT to stay. We stayed at the Harrison Hall hotel, and it was totally a dump. It was in a crappy place on the boardwalk, and the bathrooms were so tiny you can't imagine. The rooms were not very clean either.

The boardwalk and food in Ocean city are awesome, though, and there are a ton of hotels on the boardwalk. I just wanted to let you know of one that was BAD. I wish I could rember one place where we ate. It was on the boardwalk, and you had to walk downstairs. Best frozen margaritas ever! Have fun while you're there!

Re: Ocean City, MD

Since you brought up Ocean City, MD, I was going to start researching soon to see if you can rent houses there. My DH's family wants to take a vacation together next year where we all rent a vacation house together for a week or two. So I'm wondering how much is it? and can you get a house on or near the beach? TIA!

I've only been there once, and stayed at a friends condo. I just wanted to tell you to make sure that you go to SECRETS while you are there!

Re: Ocean City, MD

I went last year, and stayed at a Really nice & new hotel, but it was pretty far away from the beach. I think it was a Holiday Inn.

You have to go to Seacrets! That place is sooo awesome!
