Places to have a wedding for about 30/40 people (ceremony + reception)

Does anyone have any ideas where I could have a civil ceremony and reception (preferably the same place) in the NY area? It doesn't have to be very big because it's only 30 or 40 people at most.

I'm looking more for atmosphere than anything.

One place that has some smaller rooms is maine maid inn - we really liked that place, but the small room was too small, and the big room was too big... very historical. Also, Milleridge Inn, the inn itself, has various sized rooms... They both have websites... Hope this helps!

The swan club has a room for 40 or 45 guests, I don't remember the exact number. It's called the Contessa. Look at DJPIll's review under the Bride's Review. I've seen the room and I thought it looked very nice, especially for a small wedding. You also have beautiful grounds. Good Luck!

What about Morans? I went to a wedding there and it was great. (There are 2) You could also use Red Eye Grill ... they have many private rooms so you could use one for the ceremony and one for the 'reception'.

You are probably better off trying restaurants rather than catering halls.

Try: Three Village Inn, Snapper Inn, Danford's.

Re: Places to have a wedding for about 30/40 people (ceremony + reception)

The Metropolitan gave me a 50 person minimum for their club which is downstairs. It is a great space. The pic of the cocktail room space is under 'gallery 2' on their website.

Its a bit more people than you are looking to have, but if your experience is anything like mine, you may actually have more invites than you plan, (I planned on inviting 85 guests and actually invited 120!).

I also looked at the Swan Club and it is beautiful. One problem was that they would not book the outdoor chapel space until 6 months before the wedding; they hold it for larger weddings and basically, I could have had it if no one else wanted it. I wasn't willing to take that chance).

Edited to add link to pic of cocktail hour room:

Thanks. Don't know why I got that confused. The afterdeck is really nice.
