Thinking about this, but I know I have a LONG TIME
Ok- so originally I thought EW had escorting and no placecards were necessary, but that's not true any longer...no biggie i guessBUT, now my question is, and i know i have a veryyy long time and it is such a small detail....BUT how do place cards work???
DO we buy them ourselves?
Are they handwritten???
Typed???
I have been to weddings recently and never paid much attention to this and now I am wondering

Re: Thinking about this, but I know I have a LONG TIME
For my sister's wedding (And Ive seen other do the same) We bought the placecards at Staples and printed them at home on the cmputer ina font to match the programs, invites, etc. We put a little silver seal with hearts on the left hand side and experimented to get the placement right. You can also print a design or monogram right on it. Or you can come up with soem kind of themed placecard, or placecard votives, etc. The possibilities are endless!

I went to a wedding at Giorgios last month-and they didnt have place cards-they had everyone on a list and a table number next to your name and as you went in they looked you up on the list and told you what table you were at.

Re: Thinking about this, but I know I have a LONG TIME
Was it okay that way, without the place cards, just a list? What did you think about that? Thanks for your input.

Re: Thinking about this, but I know I have a LONG TIME
Usually the place will supply them and you can handwrite them. Personally, I am going to a place like Michaels or A.C. Moore to buy nicer ones so that I can type up the names using the font I used on my invitations.

Re: Thinking about this, but I know I have a LONG TIME
I didn't even think that the reason Giorgios no longer provided placecards was because they did the table lists! I went to a wedding with that and it irritated me. It gets very confusing when there are a few of the same last name. I bought my own placecards (at AC Moore) and will print them out on my computer.

Re: Thinking about this, but I know I have a LONG TIME
I think I'll do my own in some way if Giorgio's doesn't do placecards anymore. People are accustomed to them, and I agree it will be confusing.

I did place cards that were done in calligraphy that had our engagement photo on it. I thought it was cute.

at the showcase last night the maitre d for the estate told us that they do not do escorting any longer, that the waiters/waitresses will stand at the doorways and help guests to their tables but place cards (or something, a list whatever you choose) are needed, i dont know about the country gardens though
