Went Dress Shopping Today... Very Upset.... (sorry, a little long) UPDATE W/ PICS!!!

I went wedding dress shopping with my sister today, and although I enjoyed trying on all the dresses, the staff at the place was so not helpful..

It started out ok, with the women picking out some dresses, but I told her I wanted to try on Maggie Sottero dresses, and she brought every other designer but the ones I wanted to try....

Then all of a sudden the lady disappeared on us, when we had a question, and another associate told us she went on her break...

When she cam back, she reaked (sp?) like cigarettes... I didn't care if she needed a break or not, but tell me so I don't look like an idiot looking for you...

Then, my sister and I decided to bring some dresses in and the she went MIA again... It was ok, b/c I had my sister, but every time I tried on another dress without her, the other associates were giving me dirty looks....

I told my sister, I wanted to try on Maggies', so she went to look, and brought back a Maggie dress. I tried it on and fell in love!!!!

I was so happy!!!!! Then all of a sudden the lady shows up again, and says,'Finally..You found something! I thought you didn't want to try that on....' Meanwhile she never showed me that dress, and then I asked her the name of it, b/c I was unfamiliar with that particular one, and she told me Melanie.. This was after she had her dinner all over her face, b/c she went on another break!!!!!

Anyway, Ladies... Maggie Sottero doesn't make a Melanie!!!!! I can't find the dress anywhere.
I loved it, and I'm very disappointed, b/c I didn't think she knew the name, and then I get home and can't find it... I'll post pics soon, maybe you can help me....

I really had a nice time with my sister, but the service was so horrible, that I would never go back or reccommend them to anyone....

OMG Gina, sounds like the dress shop that I got my dress at!! I have to pray now that they don't screw it up!!

They are REQUIRED to tell you the maker and name of the dress. I would go back there tomorrow, ask to speak to a manager and let her know what happened. Then ask to see the dress and ask for the maker and proper name.

Sometimes, the name the bridal shops get is NOT the same as the website. For instance, when I asked the name of my dress, I was told it was Tammy. There is no Tammy by the designer, but I found the dress under a different name on the website. I don't know why this is.

Your other option is to go to another salon (with better service!) that carries Maggies and see if you can find that dress again!

I know exactly how you feel! I had a similar experience and now the salon I was at is telling me they're 'pretty sure' the designer is so and so but will tell me for sure when I place my order. They were also so kind to tell me that it's an exlusive design for their salon. Well if you're only pretty sure who the designer is , how are you so sure I won't find it anywhere else? I tell you , some places really take advantage of the situation.

I agree with the someone who posted above suggesting to go to other bridal salons to try to find the dress. That's what I'm doing on Monday. If you're pretty sure it's a Maggie, it won't be too hard.

Here's a full view of the dress... It kind of looks like 'Jeraldine', but I don't think it is....

I don't know if you're in Nassau or Suffolk but I'd go to another salon with the pictures and show it to them. I'm going somewhere on Monday to look again. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take pictures of the gown I fell in love with so it's going to be hard. But if I had a picture, the place I'm going on Monday would definately be able to help me.

OMG! I am so sorry to hear about your bad experience. Sounds awful.
That is why I am so hesitant to go back into a bridal shop because I had a nice salewomen help me but put so much pressure on me to buy. I felt like I was being pushed.
Again, so sorry to hear about the bad day and BAD shop!

I would print these pictures out and bring them to another dress shop. They will know who the designer is and will be able to get you the gown.

Did the staff, by any chance, write down the name and number of the dress on your card? Maybe you can call and ask and they might be able to clarify the designer? You might have to go back there - they sound horrid, maybe you could just order the dress there and have it altered elsewhere. It looks beautiful on you!

It might be a discontinued style and they havent sold it yet-I asked a friend of mine-she is going to see if she can get you the name...HTH

Sorry, but I think its so cool that there is a wedding gown with my name. It's very pretty too :) Good luck finding it. If I come across it in a store or something I'll let you know

Gina, maybe you should just order it from that website, I'm sure it would be cheaper than in the salon, and then you can choose where you get your alterations!!
