Time Management Question (buying a house/planning a wedding)

With two months to go there is so much more to do!
Today we spent the whole day working on the horrid kitchen. The house can really eat up a lot of your time.

What do you think - lay off the house and finalize all wedding stuff first?

Kind of agitated tonight :(

Re: Time Management Question (buying a house/planning a wedding)

Will you be doing any entertaining in your home between now and the wedding/HM? If the answer is no, then I would hold off on any major home renovations until after the wedding. I would not spend the $ earmarked for the kitchen on the wedding though.

Re: Time Management Question (buying a house/planning a wedding)

I agree!

We just closed on our house Friday, I'm moving into the house next weekend (my lease is up), luckily the house is in move in condition, only minor things to do, and I'm planning on waiting until after the wedding. I'm so stressed with wedding stuff now that I can't think of doing anything to the house at this point.

Re: Time Management Question (buying a house/planning a wedding)

I bought a house this year, planning a wedding and FH got a promotion at work which takes up a lot of good wedding planning time. I'm with you. It's a lot of work. You just have to try to put one thing aside for a bit and work on the other. I usually work on a little wedding project a day and then need a break and that's when I work on some house related stuff. It's tough, but we'll get through it!

Re: Time Management Question (buying a house/planning a wedding)

boy do I hear you!!!! we are buying my grandfathers house (after the wedding) but we moved in in january and completely redid the main floor. no construction yet (alittle in the kitchen) but we painted everything, carpet, new furniture etc. etc. etc. it took a big chunk out of our time, and a HUGE chunk out of our bank acc'ts. we put about 10k into the house that we wish we had for towards the wedding. oh well, its so very worth it. I would say now that everything is winding down, i would put the house to the side and concentrate on the wedding. you are going to have tons of time after everything is said and done to worry about the house..... and you might just enjoy it then too!

Re: Time Management Question (buying a house/planning a wedding)

you & me.........the same!!!!

We are working on our kitchen too....and when we finish we are going to start the bathroom and gut the whole thing. Right now I feel like we are paying more attention to the house than the weddingplanning, but I am trying to manage it all. We both wanted this... And we're so happy we have our house.

Good Luck!

Re: Time Management Question (buying a house/planning a wedding)

Yup it is hard doing both at the same time. But after buying a house and going through that hard process wedding planning doesn't seem as bad. I want to buy stuff for the house and say to myself 'after the wedding' and end up getting it anyway...lol. But we bought in January and are basically done with any renovations. But if I were you with this close to the wedding I would try to get as much wedding stuff done as possible.
