Re: repost: help! need restaurant in nyc

Carmines on Broadway between 90th & 91st. I went last week. They take reservations. we had 11-girls total.

It's family-style (big platters of food to share) ranging from $17-$25 per plate.

We ordered 5 plates, 1 magnum of white wine and a few people had cokes and it turned out to be $20 per person.

Cannot beat that and the food was phenominal!

I like the midtown one better but I agree that it's a lot of fun and they encourage you to share appetizers, so it wouldn't get too expensive. It's one of my favorite places

Re: repost: help! need restaurant in nyc

I would second Carmine's. Love their food. Another good one for a group would be Churascurria Palataforma. It's a very unusual eating experience if you've never had Brazilian before. It's fun! You pay one price and they give you these coasters that are red on one side and green on the other. If your coaster is green side up they keep coming by with more food. It's all BBQ basically and they carve meat right at the table. All you can eat. If you want a break or you're full you flip the coaster to red. The side dishes are great and they do them as a buffet. It's in midtown

Re: repost: help! need restaurant in nyc

I've also gone to Time Cafe for a pre-bachelorette dinner. They gave us a private room and the food was great and the drinks too. It was in the Union Square area. And the restaurant turns into a club after hours. I forgot the name of the club. We didn't stay because we had plans to go to Culture Club after.

NExt to Carmines (which is great!) is also Marianne's (a fun Mexican place)....used to go there all the time when I lived on the Upper West Side. I sure miss that area!!!!

There's also Dip Cafe -- really great cheese fondue and dessert fondue as well. It's on 3rd Avenue in the low 30s. It's a lot of fun and there are great bars in that area too.

I just went to Ruby Foos on Sun night. The food was yummy and so were the cocktails. It's an Asian fusion restaurant. Chines, Thai & Japanese.
