Re: Douglaston Manor Bridal Show and Food Tasting 9/29
Hi there,I've just started looking for a reception site and came across Douglaston Manor. I was impressed by the site. They are still doing some work there, but I wanted to know are you pleased so far with your selection?
I have a tasting to go to on Sept 14th.
I realize your wedding is in a couple of weeks, but any thoughts you can share is greatly appreciated.
Congratulations on your wedding and I wish you all the best.

Re: Douglaston Manor Bridal Show and Food Tasting 9/29
Hi....I just booked Douglaston Manor for Sept. 07 and I'm also going to the tasting on Sept. 14th. I love everything about the decor, I think all of the renovations are amazing. Every time I go there something new was done- have you been there yet? Or did you only see them online?I was so nervous when I initially did a search for Douglaston on here because I was reading a lot of mixed reviews....but then I asked Douglaston if they were under new ownership- and yes they are as of this year (which explains the renovating!). I was relieved to hear that!! So basically the only reviews I'll acknowledge are those post renovation (if you do a search for douglaston you'll see more recent postings)....someone had their engagement party there this month and raved about it. So that definitely put my mind at ease.
By the way- how many guests were you going to have? Their smaller room is beautiful and accomodates I think up to 125 people. I'm using the bigger room with a guarantee of 150.
Please let me know if you have any questions....maybe I'll see you on the 14th!!!

Re: Douglaston Manor Bridal Show and Food Tasting 9/29
Hi Helen,I had network problems here so I don't see my reply to you.
Yes, I'll be there on the 14th with my maid of honor. My FI works nights so we'll need to be the judge. I went to Douglaston 2 weeks ago, and fell in love with it.
We're having a small wedding of about 65-80 people for October 07. I'm looking to have my ceremony there too. I've heard mixed reviews as well. Most of the people though haven't been there in a long time. I find you can't please people all the time, so with the new owners it should go smooth.
I've never been to any of these shows before, so everything is new to me.
I'll see you on the 14th.
