Bridesmaid Dress Dilemma - Updated at the bottom!

Uggghhh. I picked the PERFECT bridesmaid dress... Or so I thought

I went with my sister (Shes 12) to get measured for my BM dress this weekend.. now Im 2nd guessing the dress I chose. Unfortunately, I dont have a picture of it. (It was from the Laundry by Shelli Segal line) Whats bothering me about the dress is that its mermaid shaped and it trumpets at the bottom creating a weird looking effect (The dress has 2 layers of crinoline at the bottom. I was told by a few people at the salon that the particular dress I picked out wont look good on every body shape.. ESPECIALLY the shorter girls in my BP. Not only that, there would have to be alot of work to be done to the dress to make it fir every girl perfect. After seeing the dress again, I totally agreed. ( I trust their judgement because I personally know a few of the girls that work at the salon & they would never steer me wrong) So anyway, now Im back at Square 1 looking for BM dresses (again) I LOVE the Bill Levkoff line, so I may go with a dress from his collection. I just feel so bad telling my girls that Im changing the dress!!
I just want them all to look gorgeous at the wedding!! Sorry for venting, but Im just so upset about this. I was so excited about my original choice, and now I have to change it.
So sad.. errr!! Thank goodness I have another year to plan my wedding (Because of instances like this!!

Thanks for listening

Re: Bridesmaid Dress Dilemma

they will understand and thank goodness you switched the dresses. Mermaid style looks bad on most figures. Unless you are tiny, you will look good.

Re: Bridesmaid Dress Dilemma

Janie, you're changing the dress b/c it benefits them! Don't feel bad, and believe me, they'll be greatful that you chose something that will fit them all rather than something that doesn't.

You have time. If you like Bill Levkoff, definitely check out Lazaro and Jim Hjelm.

Let me know if you need any help! I had short/tall/small and larger girls in my BP!

I also changed the dresses on them three times, and believe me, they appreciated it every single time when I expressed the reasons why!

Re: Bridesmaid Dress Dilemma

I feel your pain! Its's so hard to accomodate to everyone's style, shape, and skin tone. My Moh didn't like the way the pink looked on her skin tone and was telling me I should go all purple. My fiance hates purple and I'm not a big purple fan because i have my heart set out on a pink wedding. I finally went this weekend and found a purplish/pinkish color that would look better on her. My Fiance says I'm too nice and accomodating. I told him that I want everyone to be happy and don't want any one looking misearable in the pictures because they don't like the way they look in the dress. At this point, I'm going to stop caring. Especially when I'm doing this all by myself w/o anyone's help. Good luck and I hope that everything works out for you.

P.S. I'll see you at Cozymels :)

What was it, like $12???? How great is that? I decided to get my hair done at the Old Studio 86/Voi....which is now Asian...it's going to cost me $25...CAN'T BEAT THAT!

Were you at Valentina's???? Did you see my post the other day (I believe Thursday Night?) - I went to Valentina's, and saw Antonella, and she told me to tell you she said Hi!

Re: Bridesmaid Dress Dilemma

I feel you, I am going in a completely different direction now with my BM dresses so I am back at square 1 also!!!

BTW I wore a mermaid/trumpet style skirt for my brother's wedding. It was NOT FUN. I may have looked good in it, but it was a PITA. The MOH and I had a hell of a time walking in it, getting in and out of the limo, going up and down stairs, you name it. I even fell and twisted my knee towards the end of the reception!! So if they question why you're changing it, let them know you don't want them falling!!!

Re: Bridesmaid Dress Dilemma

Just following up...

I ended up picking a very similar dress to the one I orginally had... I have a picture of it on another post. I started telling my bridesmaids.. and one of the responses were:

Bernadette: yeah i hear ya. I liked both dresses really.. but i can see where the other one could have been a problem. Mermaid style dresses are a little tricky to work with. Thanks for looking out.. The new one you picked out is really nice and I think it will flatter every figure. That was really nice of you to be concerned... Your an anti-bridezilla !!

Im so hapy she understands!! I would hate to have my girls hate me for being indecisive!
