DAVID'S BRIDAL-ALTERATIONS? GOOD OR BAD?

Hi Ladies-
I picked up my dress yesterday from David's Bridal. All my accessories came in too. They told me I had to come get it soon because they do not have the space to store it.

One of my bridesmaids told me last night to maybe looking into another place to do alterations. She said she had heard some things about their alterations that weren't so good. I asked her to go back to those sources and get further details.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANYTHING TO OFFER ON THIS TOPIC?

If you do, please share!

I am very pettie and the dress that I bought I love and I don't want anything to go wrong with the alterations. So..please advise! All opinions given are greatly appreciated.

thanks!

Re: DAVID'S BRIDAL-ALTERATIONS? GOOD OR BAD?

I would advise you to find a seamstress rather than have alterations done at David's.

My experience with them for BM dresses have always been a nightmare. My friend's experience was subpar at best.

Re: DAVID'S BRIDAL-ALTERATIONS? GOOD OR BAD?

I also advise to go somewhere else. My best friend(I was her MOH) had them do her alterations and they did not altar the top correctly at all.. Her bra was showing all day long because it kept sliding down. I got my BM dress altered there and they cut too much off the bottom so my dress was short, the beading was coming off once I sat down and the straps of the dress kept sliding off me.

My cousin had her dress altered there and she had to have them fix 4 times before they did it the correct way.

All in all... Nothing good comes out of David's Bridals seamstresses

I would advise the same. I got both my dresses at DB and they were great during that. But I chose to have my dress altered elsewhere because of some very bad stories I heard about their alterations dept.

Re: DAVID'S BRIDAL-ALTERATIONS? GOOD OR BAD?

I went this weekend to have my veil repaired, and overheard the lady behind the curtain say, 'I really don't know how to do measurements.' YIKES!!! I wasn't 100% happy with my bustle. I wish she would've hit the buttons in loops a little better.

Re: DAVID'S BRIDAL-ALTERATIONS? GOOD OR BAD?

I got my dress at David's bridal and got my alterations on the side with one of the seamtresses that works there. She did everything from her house. I told her how everybody said their alterations were bad, and she told me that they never have enough staff and the summer is really busy. She did a great job with my dress!

Re: DAVID'S BRIDAL-ALTERATIONS? GOOD OR BAD?

my SIL had hers done there... i would seriously advise aganst it. theyre great for getting a good deal on a wedding dress, but beyond that, there's much left to be desired. there are plenty of great seamstresses around that are worth looking into imo

Re: DAVID'S BRIDAL-ALTERATIONS? GOOD OR BAD?

all of this is great advice! Thank you so much. Does anyone have any ideas of where to go? I keep hearing about this woman named Phyllis on here who I guess does great alterations.

My friend has the name of someone to give me also.
