So I saw my hair stylist today...

... and showed her a picture of my dress. She said that with my dress, to wear my hair down would just not look right - the back is very dramatic and severe. At the same time, I do not have enough hair to put up yet. With less than six months to go, my hair MIGHT grow another 2 or three inches - still maybe just enough to put up piece by piece. I am not a bun/chignon/up-do type and I am frustrated. I would love to chop and buzz it. I am one of the few people I know who can carry off butchy hair because my face is long and rather narrow. But, FH would like to see my hair longer. Ugh! Extensions are not an option for me. I would be obsessing over whether or not they will stay in and I'd just as soon not deal with that. I can't do my hair trial til the end of December or January so at this point, I have NO idea what I am going to look like. Basically, I miss my short red hair. Now I am a mid-length blonde. HAIR PURGATORY I TELL YOU!

I do not think wearing your hair down is going to take away from your dress AT ALL. Your hair is NOT that long that it would.

I say wear your hair down how you intend, and that's it!

You're a tall(er) person, and with the back of that amazing dress, it's impossible to take away from it.

I went through the same dilema and decided that I had to be comfortable.

Also, understand that even though the model has HER hair up, I have a long face and when my hair is pulled too tight, I look stupid. This is me with short hair:

oh yeah. I remember your dress now. duh.

I think either having your hair shorter, or up may look better considering the back of the dress... but I think it is more important you feel comfortable.

Also, try and reconsider your stance on extensions. they are no joke, they will stay in. You would be surprised. If you have the funds, try them out now - a hair rehearsal.

ETA: Your short hair (as pictured) with that dress would look so sophisticated and elegant.

Oh honey I am sorry - have you spoken to anyother stylist? did you want to wear your hair down - if you would feel more comfortable that way maybe you should just wear it down

les, Why are you growing your hair out for the wedding if you do not like longer hair? Seems ridiculous to suffer for an updo, no? And my FH would like me to do a lot of things, but hey, when he transforms into Antonio Sabato Jr., that's when I will take the steps to transform into Carmen Electra! Wear your hair short and just add a pretty brooch or clip to your hair! it will look just as beautiful! It surprises me that you would even think of conforming to the idea of an up-do on your wedding day if you are not happy doing it!

I agree 100% As for someone like me who does hair I think short hair (like in your picture) will look great with your dress. GO for it girl!

If you're more comfortable with the short hair do, do it!!! Honestly your FH will love you that day no matter what your hair looks like! Men sometimes think they know what they want, but you give them something else and they are just as happy if not happier! Make yourself comfortable on your wedding day, you don't want to be paranoid about what you like, and you want to be comfortable, because if your not, it will completely show on your wedding pictures!

Buzz it off..you are one of the few women that can pull off a short style like that...I think you should look like you on your wedding day and not some ideal that someone else imposes on you.

Thanks for all of your input ladies. No, I am generally not one to conform to anything but I figure he asks so little of me, I can at least make an attempt at something he likes. So I came up with this idea: I will grow my hair until the end of December and do my trial(s) then. I have enough faith in my hairdresser that no matter what she does (up or down) that it will look gorgeous. If I completely hate it, I will cut/buzz my hair and go back to red. If I don't hate it, then I will leave it as is. She suggested something like an Audrey Hepburn look. Eh I have whined enough!
