NWR-My awful past few days (vent)
As some of you may know, I am finishing up my Masters this year. Well, school started last Tuesday and my first class was awesome. I walk into my second class on Thursday and first of all, I was the only female there (Protection Management class) AND it turns out that even though this particular class was listed on my concentration course list, it is not there ANYMORE! So, I go to the Registrar explaining to them my situation and it turns out that the program change deadline was up on Wed. the 31st...Im like what the $&%*!!??? How are you supposed to know if you're going to have a problem with a course before the friggin class even starts!?To make a long story short, I had to schedule a meeting with the Dean, explain my situation, vent about the fact that there is lack of advisory sources, that we CUNY students are basically left to fend for ourselves...if I didnt have a tantrum in the Dean's office I would have lost 50% of my tuition and most importantly TIME! I didnt want to take one class this semester and lose time! I want to be able to graduate...$&@* the red tape and let me take another class!
Anyway, the Dean understood where I was coming from and gave me the permission to take another class...WHHEEEEWWWW I feel so much better...I had to take time off from work to go down to my school during business hours and was pretty stressed out...
Anyways, thanks for listening ladies!

I know how hard it is to navigate CUNY, especially John Jay. the people you register with are NOT very help. during my undergrad I took 3 EXTRA courses that I didn't end up getting credit for b/c I didn't really have to take them....it's a shame b/c the professors are really awesome and there is a real opportunity to learn...but it IS a city agency after all....gotta take the good with the bad.
which Dean did you see by the way. I am pretty cool with 2 (one was my tennis teacher! LOL)
sorry, I meant to add that I am happy everything worked out!!!

Sorry that CUNY stressed you out! I got my masters in social work at Hunter and while I loved the professors, the administration left a lot to be desired.I am glad that it all worked out for you in the end!

I'm glad things worked out, sorry you had to go through this. Believe me having my undergrad at Queens & completing my Masters at Hunter I know the administration was always challenging to deal with, nothing was easy.
Don't let it get you down....

I know how it feels...it gets so freakin' frustrating. Everyone points you to another direction and straight answers are harder to come by that a $3 bill. But I'm so glad things worked out for you. Sometimes you just have to be persistant to get things done.Welcome New Vendors
