Wedding Dress Questions- I'm clueless
I think it's time for me to start shopping for my dress but I've very clueless as to how this works. What time to the shops stay open to during the week? I usually get stuck working late and so I'm thinking about going on the weekends. Is that bad? Someone told me they get too crowded on the weekends and limit the amount of dresses you try on.Also, my mom says you can't take pictures in the store? Is that true? She also said that these places won't tell you who makes the dress until you put money down? Why?
What do I wear when I go?
Who should I bring? I'm plan on bringing my mom but should I bring someone younger for another opinion or wait until I have it narrowed down?
How many trips are we talking here?
I'm a mess! Please help me!

Re: Wedding Dress Questions- I'm clueless
You can't take pictures because they dont want you to get the dress elsewhere or they dont want you to copy it.I would bring a strapless bra with you in the event you try on a strapless dress. Maybe panty hose to give you a smooth line but other than that you really dont need anything. Most salons have shoes in the dressing rooms.
I brought my mother and my sister who are brutally honest about everything. I wouldnt begrudge any mother an opportunity to see this moment.

As for store hours... they're like any other store. Some are open late, some aren't.Going on a weekend is going to be more crowded, but some of the salons won't even see you unless you have an appointment so those places dont' get too bad.
Could you possibly take a day off work to go with your Mom? That way you go on a weekday and you can go to a few without them all being too crowded.
I suggest bringing 1 or 2 people at the most. You don't need too many people distracting you or the sales people. Bring your mom and perhaps a friend who's opinion you trust. you don't want someone telling you what you want to hear, you want the truth.
Most places dont' want you taking pictures until you've bought the dress so you don't take a picture and bring it to someone else to make.
As far as how many trips - thats up to you. Some people (like me) find the dress the first store they go into. Some people go to a whole bunch of stores before finding what they like. Its different for each person.
have fun!!! you still have plenty of time.. don't worry and dont stress out about it.

Re: Wedding Dress Questions- I'm clueless
Some of the stores stay open late on certain nights. I would do a search for the stores that are closest to where you live and call ahead to see what their hours are. It's also good to have some pictures with you so that you can give the salesperson an idea of what you like. For the most part, they are experienced and will make suggestions as to what you can try on. You can look through gown pictures on the internet or in magazines and just print or tear out the ones you like. As far as how many trips you will be taking, that's anybody's guess. You could end up being one of the lucky brides who gets the first dress she tries on, or you might end up going to several different stores before finding your dream dress. It is out there, it's just waiting for you to come and find it. SO exciting!!!

macys is open late & so is lynbrook bridal--both have a wide selection. I got mine at macys. With macys you must have an appointment or they won't let you try on dresses.

I would start now, it took me a few months to pick a dress. I brought my sister and mom and they will tell me right away if they liked it or disliked the dresses. Bring someone like this, it helps a lot.

Re: Wedding Dress Questions- I'm clueless
I would start looking now. Paradise bridal in Patchogue is open late during the week, thats were I go mine. I took my mom just to look at dresses not to get a dress but when I walked out of the dressing room in my dress my Mom told me that it was the one and lady that was helping said how beautiful it looked. When I looked in the mirror I got chills and so excited I knew it was the one.
