Wedding Dress Shopping

So we're starting wedding dress shopping this weekend!!!!! Saturday will be one year until my wedding, and Sunday we go looking for a dress!!

I have a question though, alll the magazines tell us to wear what we're going to wear under our dress.....do they mean for the fittings, and not for finding a dress? I don't know what type of dress I'm going to wear....let alone what kind of bra I'll be wearing under it.

What should I wear?? I need help girls!!!!

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping

I didn't bring a thing with me when I went trying on dresses. unless you already own a long line bra, I don't recommend buying one because they're pricey and it may not work with the dress you end up with. some salons have them for you to try with dresses.

I do however recommend that you bring your tiara if you bought one. if not, the salon can let you try one on with a veil... or whatever you want.

oh, and don't forget a camera! some stores may allow you to take pics. good luck

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping

Just wear underwear that you are not embarassed to be seen in- no granny pants!! Undergarments do not matter in terms of the dress... most places have a strapless bra they give you to wear while you are there..

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping

I recommend wearing slip-on shoes. Some of the stores make you wear shoes with the dresses because there are pins everywhere on the floor and they don't want you stepping on them in your bare feet.

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping

I would wear a strapless bra if you have one and underwear you dont mind being seen in, because there will probably be a salesperson in the fitting room with you.

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping

Most of the dress places I went to provided the corset bustier and shoes. Unless you are squeamish about the thought of using these, you really don't need to bring anything with you.

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping

I totally wore granny panties (nicer ones) b/c I didn't want the salespeople seeing my behind. They supplied me with the corset and shoes. If you have a pair of heels you want to bring, go ahead, b/c the pair I tried my dress on with were too big and hard to walk in.

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping

I brought my own shoes, and wore a strapless bra and SPANX 'power panties' which essentially look like bicycle shorts.
Trust me your butt is going to be in the consultant's face. I was so glad I had on the spanx.

Also its a good idea to go with your hair and makeup done (not over the top, but polished) so you get a feel for what the total package will look like.
