Re: Moving out (for those planning on renting an apartment...
We just moved in together almost 2 weeks ago and our wedding is in 5 months. He was always at my place anyway but it was too small and we were bumping into each other. There was no reason for us to wait. We only looked at one place. It is a huge apartment with three bedrooms in the location where we wanted at a great price. We got it by word of mouth.Though I have to say it was funny when my mother called me at the new place and asked if Ed was going home. I said 'Mom, he LIVES here!'

We moved in together a while ago. We're paying rent and saving for the wedding. You just learn to prioritize what you need and what you want. We're still able to have some fun and save $$. it's hard, but in the end, we'll have a beautiful wedding, and a great place to live.

Re: Moving out ! (For those planning on renting an apartment...)
We moved in together in May (4 months ago) and the wedding is in June '06.We were long distance for almost 3 years after college so we were SO ready to move in together... esp after we got engaged. He got a job in NYC and we lived w/ my mom for a month, then realized we just wanted our own place. We could have saved money by staying w/ my mom, but there's nothing like having your own place!!!

Re: Moving out ! (For those planning on renting an apartment...)
We were really fortunate and foud something now, but it won't be vaccated until 3/06 - so once the folks are out, we're starting construction, and should be ready to move in by 4/06.Where do you plan on looking? if it's in SI or Brooklyn, I'd start looking about three months beforehand...it's not that hard to find an apartment, it's harder to find something you can afford and something you're absolutely in love with.

Re: Moving out ! (For those planning on renting an apartment...)
we moved in together last Nov-we don't have to save for the wedding- but we have to save for a house
god bless the girls who are paying for a wedding and buying a house at the same time
not sure how that do it- they should write a book

Re: Moving out ! (For those planning on renting an apartment...)
Our wedding is in July - we are going to start looking about 2 months in advance but most real estate agents say about 1 month in advance. We just want to give ourselves enough time to find a place we really like.

Re: Moving out ! (For those planning on renting an apartment...)
We are going to start looking in january. The wedding is at the end of May, but FH's lease is up Feb. 28, and he can't sign a three month lease, and I still live with the parents, so we will start looking for 'our' place
in January. FH will definitely move in in March, but I havent decided if I move in then as well, or wait until after the wedding.

Re: Moving out ! (For those planning on renting an apartment...)
I know you are talking about renting, as you all know, we just bought in August. We are currently paying our mortgage on the house & saving for the wedding. We are only living in the house right now on the weekends until our bedroom set comes in mid October. Then we will be living there full time! So we will technically be in the house 5 months prior to the wedding & it could not be soon enough! It is so hard to say goodbye on Sunday evenings

Re: Moving out ! (For those planning on renting an apartment...)
My lease is up Dec. 1 - so we have started looking for a new apartment already. I love my apartment but it is unfortunately too small for 2 people
I will live in our new place alone and he will move in after Feb. 11th!

Re: Moving out ! (For those planning on renting an apartment...)
We moved in together in January and we're getting married next June. It's really tough saving for a wedding and paying rent, sometimes we think maybe we shouldn't have done it. But then we realize it really was the best choice for us. Besides, we signed the lease before we were engaged and then he proposed before we moved in. So I hadn't intended to save for a wedding, but that's what ended up happening.

Re: Moving out ! (For those planning on renting an apartment...)
We moved in together in April and are getting married next July. I was paying rent on my own before & it was a small basement apt. This apt. is 2 bedrooms in a great location and its only about 400. more than I was paying. We looked for about 3 weeks before we found this one. After the stress of moving and looking, we said thankfully we did this ahead of time.

Re: Moving out ! (For those planning on renting an apartment...)
We moved in to an apartment September of '04 (after living together in my mom's house since January of '03) and got engaged January of '05. Part of the money we were saving for a house is going to our wedding. I've split it up mentally, like this percentage of our savings is for the wedding and this percentage is for the house. It frustrates me, because I was like 'I had our down payment, and now I've got to pay for a five hour party,' but we would totally regret it if we weren't having a wedding.
