To those who are making your own invitations, STDs etc...

I'm thinking about making our invitations (with enclosures), STDs, programs and place cards but before I really get into it I have three questions...

1. Was all the effort worth the savings?

2. If so, what vendors did you use for buying all the components? Card stock, ribbon, glue etc.

3. How hard was it? I'm not that crafty but I am somewhat. My sister will be helping me and she's like a min Martha Stewart so I'm thinking she will be a big help!

If anyone can provide any information I would be so grateful!!!

In no particular order:

1) Yes, worth the savings

2) Not hard at all. I'm not crafty at all, but you don't have to be!

3) I bought
- STD magnets from creativemontage.com - $58 for 100 of them, including shipping and design
- Card Stock & Envelopes from paper-source.com - really inexpensive, great selection, great quality
- I printed out the pictures on my Epson photo printer
- Bought the glue and paper cutter from The Rag Shop (craft store)

We made our own STD magnets and card for the magnet (see profile pic).

FH designed them. We got the magnets w/ sticky back and 8x10 glossy business card paper from Staples. We got the cards to hold the magnet from Michaels.

It is worth the time/effort... plus we had fun! You have a lot of time till your wedding so doing little projects will help keep you busy!

It's a great feeling completing a project and all your fam/friends telling you how much they LOVE it!

I'm making my own as well.
For the STD's I'll probably just buy the pre-cut paper at Michaels in the wedding section. I did this for my sister's shower and they turned out quite nice.
But for the actual invitations I like the portfolio style invitations, so I'm thinking of buying just envelopes from a regular invitation company and buying the card stock somewhere else and going for it.

I agree I consider my TIME into the mix of $$$. To me, paying someone to do that is worth it, and I am doing alot of other things myself...just can't handle the idea of having to make STD's and invites
