We are bringing back animals from LOUISIANA/KATRINA and need fosters/adopters...please SAVE A LIFE

Hi,

My husband, vet tech friend and I are going down to work in a Louisiana shelter for a week. We're taking a bunch of donations down, working 7 days, then driving back.

We are working with a 501c3 no-kill shelter in Queens and we ARE bringing cats and small dogs back. The shelter will take 5-7 small dogs and a breed rescue group will take 2 cats. I am taking one foster, my dad will hopefully adopt one, and we have a home for 1 small dog.

Still, that's only 9-11 animals, and we have room for more. But, I can't bring animals back that won't have a place to go.

The animals we are bringing have no guardians, they were already in the shelter when the storm hit. These animals are at high risk of euthanasia because they don't have guardians and there are so many tens of thousands down there.

We have a vet lined up through Muffins to spay/neuter for free and we are getting free vaccinations from a local vet.

If you have EVER thought about adopting or fostering, this is the time.....

we can't have any pets but i just wanted to say that my heart is with you. i donated to best friends b/c people do forget about the animals. please drive carefully and know that what you are doing is awesome and i commend you!!!

Good for you! That's so nice. I'm going to talk to FH and see if I can convince him to let us take in a dog.
