Has anybody changed the time of their wedding?

I'm getting married in october at lombardis on the sound and I asked them to change my wedding from 6:30 to 6 and they are giving me such a hard time. They said 6:15, but what is an extra 15 minutes? I just want to have the view before the sun sets. has anybody dealt with anything like this before?

Re: Has anybody changed the time of their wedding?

Hmm, I wonder why they are giving you a hard time? Did they say why? Maybe there's an afternoon wedding that day and they will be tight on time to set up for your wedding if you move it back? I changed my reception time at NRC and it was fine - but my wedding is a Friday night so I'm the only wedding of the day.
6:15 seems like an awkward time to start a wedding, but if it'll help you out sun set wise - I'd take it if they won't budge.

Re: Has anybody changed the time of their wedding?

My first thought was also whether or not they have an earlier wedding. If that's the case then they prob won't change the time since they don't like to 'overlap' parties. But if not, you should be able to change it and I hope you can!

Re: Has anybody changed the time of their wedding?

If you start it at 6:30 you will still have the sunset won't you I mean the beginning of october it will still be light out around 7. I agree that 6:15 is a weird time & it is probably b/c they have an afternoon wedding.

yeah, there is an afternoon wedding ending at 5, but that shouldnt interfere with the cocktail hour

Re: Has anybody changed the time of their wedding?

We had to change the time of our wedding b/c fmil thought it was too early. (It was supposed to begin at 6:30.) We called the Sandcastle and they changed it to 7:00. Didnt seem to be a problem. Hope it works out for you.

Re: Has anybody changed the time of their wedding?

The only think I can think of is that they may need more time to clean up.... Are you using the same rooms as the earlier wedding?

Re: Has anybody changed the time of their wedding?

my hall gave me no problem. I switched it to later for 6 to 6:30. I guess this wasn't a problem b/c of the weddings earlier in the day. I think it would be easier to make it later than earlier.

Her date is the same as mine (10/8/06). Sunset is at 6:24 PM that day. We are lucky that our hall is having a showcase on 10/6 this year, so we will be able to go and see exactly what kind of light is going to be available for ceremony etc.

Re: Has anybody changed the time of their wedding?

Hmmm... do they have a lot of weddings going on at the same time? Where I am getting married is only one wedding at a time, so when I wanted to change it by a half hour, they said I could do whatever I want. Maybe your place has other appointments so they want to make sure you get full attention?

Re: Has anybody changed the time of their wedding?

I know when I booked I had 6 but moved it to 6:30. There is a wedding before me & I do recall they said if I was up in the air, to book the earlier time & they could always move it later, but vice-versa would be tough. I definitely think it's because of an earlier wedding, but I would question, you are paying a lot of money & deserve a reason why!!!

Re: Has anybody changed the time of their wedding?

I was told I could change my time by 1 hr and then they told me I couldnt 2 days later. There is a bride who's wedding ends at 6:30 so for me to have my ceremony at 6:30 or 7 they are afraid the bride will still be saying goodbye to people and we would run into each other.

I understand that. I do not want to see another bride but I wish my event wasnt so late.
