Brides, I need honeymoon help!

Hello brides... I've got some honeymoon questions and I'm wondering if you can help...

I'm getting married on Sept 22, 2006 and would like to take the honeymoon right after, well.. a few weeks (we've got a friends to go to in Oct.) So we'd like to leave on Oct.9th.

It's prime hurricane season in the carribean, but I'm REALLY loving the Sandals in St. Lucia, the Grande St. Lucian (?)

So I'm wondering if there are any fall brides out there that took the chance going to the Caribbean (Sandals St. Lucia) during hurricane season and what you thought.

We were just in Aruba this past Feb. so I was trying to find something a bit different. If we have to... I don't mind going back there, it was GORGEOUS.

You are taking a chance with the time of year, but what are the chances it will hit? We were looking into getting married in October '06, but since we are both meteorologists we knew mother nature would have fun getting us. We are big jokers, so we decided on April Fools Day anyway, outside of hurricane season.

Things to think about: Hurricane season peaks around September 10 and Sandals has the hurricane guarantee. Since 1900 only 4 hurricanes have hit St. Lucia and only one of those was after October 10. Check out:

we took a chance in sugust and went to nevis - just north of St. lucia

we had a great time - the resort was empty - easy to find a seat and make dinner reservations

we had insurance and the only weather we watched was the huricane predicor sites -we could change if it was possible for one and go to a different island

but we had nothing in the area

I'm British of St Lucian parentage. We always travel to St Lucia around the children vacation time - although you might get rain (which stops almost as soon as it starts) we have never had a holiday spoilt with hurricans. I say go for it and enjoy.

Im getting married a week before you and I am in the same predicament. I've been to Sandals St. Lucia---it's awesome--but I was not there during hurricane season. (I know I am not helping you much) Just thought I'd reiterate how awesome it was. I tried to get FH to agree to Sandals Antigua...told him that they have a hurrican guarantee --if a hurricane disrupts your honeymoon you get a replacement vacation. His response: 'well it doesn't guarantee you'll survive the hurricane, does it?'......such a pessimist.

We went to The Grande in St Lucia from 10/24 though 10/31. The weather was absolutely beautiful!!!! Many of the employee there told us that they never get hurricane where they are. Our travel agent told us the same.
