Anyone help in planning their shower then 'faked' being surprised?

Just curious. I am good at planning events and enjoy doing so. Only, in my family, they feel that the 'surprise' element is essential.
I live very far away from my family, so, realistically, I will have a good idea of the date for my shower. My mom thinks that I can help her plan the event and even if I figure out its date, I should act surprised. O am curious as to how many other brides have taken part in the planning of their shower despite it being a surprise shower?

They were TARYING to make mine a surprise, but it became too difficult, especially when FH had to deter me from making travel plans, on the date they were planning the party.

I didn't want a surprise either, I would rather help in the planning and organizing.

I was told the day before my shower that it was going to be the next day. I didn't want to plan it but I wanted to know when it would be so I could be dressed appropriately.

I didn't act surprised because everyone knew I knew.

Re: Anyone help in planning their shower then 'faked' being surprised?

I couldn't understand why my family & Fh's family felt the need to continue acting like my shower wasn't the day it was even though I flat out told them I knew about it... I walked in and they attempted to play off a stupid surprise even after I peeked my head in and waived to all the guests sitting in the room.. I was thinking...boy these people are really, really stupid!
