repost about raw sewage-any docs in the house?

question:

If you were exposed to raw sewage would there be any issues with this? illness/what would symptoms be? disease ?

I think it depends on a few things:

1) frequency of exposure
2) length of exposure
3) kind of exposure (was the person near the sewage, touching the sewage, ingest the sewage, did the sewage touch any open wounds, did sewage get near eyes)

If the exposure was extended and frequent, a slew of medical complications can result (infections, Gastroenteritis, Hepatitis). And if the person is near sewage often and breathed it in, particulate matter could enter their lungs and cause infection.

If it was just a random short exposure with little/no actual contact with the sewage, the risk is pretty low (i'm not a doctor, but I majored in this type of stuff). If the person is worried, they should call their doctor just to get checked out for peace of mind.
